@@MrMustangrick Nothing that I'm aware of is wrong with the new Macan. Just Nick's previous two lemon lawed 911's that had severe random electrical issues which is why I would think he should get a special discount on another car.

@@MBisFrenchy In the video he mentioned that he got a very good deal. And he deserved a very good deal. The previous Macan had a number of known issues of which mine had nearly all of them. They have been great at fixing them but they will not give me a 911 or 718 as a loaner car.

I asked the Porsche dealership about the air suspension when I got my Macan S and they said it’s more appropriate for more sporty models like GTS or Turbo. You used to drive 911 so you would have noticed the difference but for normal drivers the benefit is marginal. I think your car is perfect! Congrats on getting a Macan. Such a great car.

Great stuff Nick. I have a Volcano Grey 2017 Macan S Diesel here in the UK and I love it awesome car and sooo comfortable just a wonderful wonderful daily. I’m always opening the panoramic roof FYI. As a weekend car for noise I have a cheap 2006 987 Boxster lovely little car and exhaust sound from a 6 cylinder. And the mrs has a Golf TSi 1.4 for when I want to feel like a kid again or going to the tip. I have my life sorted. Good luck with the new job and congrats on the Macan S.

As an owner of a Macan S who uses it as a daily driver in New England I would recommend the 19in wheels over the 20in. More sidewall makes for a smoother ride over crummy roads and more tractable in the winter.

I agree w Nick on Macan Turbo. It’s a very higher performance vehicle. It “only” has 35 HP more than the GTS but it feels like 35% more. I suspect Porsche is VERY conservative with its numbers. You can feel it immediately as you touch the throttle. The extra power transforms the vehicle.

That's a great color. I drove a Macan loaner last week in that color and thought it looked fantastic. The Macan S is the sweet spot in that line. The base Macan is not quick at all. The big "T" turbo is much more money for performance that most of us will never exploit. Hope this one works well for you.

I love that the new Macan has the steering wheel mounted sport knob. You might think it’s pointless but it’s one of two features I really miss on my old shape macan PP. having to look down and hit sport or sport plus before passing on twisty roads is a real pain. My 991.2 gts has the knob and I use it all the time. The second feature I miss that the new Macan has is the heated front screen

Great job, Nick. As a Porsche car/s owner, the Mican is the best smaller SUV on the market. Handling, acceleration and response is closer to the 911 than most think. Thanks for doing such a great job on all of your reviews. You are the best! Keep up the great work.

Been a BMW owner of different models and Mercedes as well for 20 years. Always wanted a Porsche. The Macan would be my first choice. I've bought new (2017) and own my first American vehicle in 40 years for utility, the Silverado and will keep it because it runs strong with no issues but will buy this later as a second vehicle for pure driving enjoyment, recreation and pleasure. Good review.

Great buy, Nick. As your second car, of course. A small remark... you were talking about the engines of the Macan S. The engine power would be more noticeable, you said, in the S Diesel, Turbo etc. Turns out Porsche said recently they would stop producing Diesel cars altogether. And that goes for all models, Macan, Cayenne and Panamera. They made that decision because of all the discussions over here in Europe on diesel cars. Diesels are being banned more and more. If you have one in Europe, you’ll have a difficult job selling it. With all but the newest diesels, you are already prohibited entering cities like Paris, Madrid, Frankfurt and so on. Small counter point, I absolutely love the blades in the exterior color. I think it goes back to my younger days when I spent time dealing with all the black plastic trim pieces on my cars growing up. Keeping all that black plastic shiny or at least not faded was a slog. Put the blades on in exterior color and no more fading black plastic to deal with - textured black plastic mind you.

I finally took possession of my new Macan S on 4th May (in the U.K.), after putting a deposit down in February 2018 - so a wait of 15 months ! But it was worth waiting for - five weeks now, of very enjoyable driving. Mine is in Dolomite Silver (as at 5:22 in your video here), which I like very much. Most of the Macans and Cayennes I see on the road are black, so I wanted something different. Hope you enjoy your new Macan as much as I am, Nick !

Had a Macan loaner the other day, really nice car. Love the seating position, unlike most SUV's where they seats are too high the Macan allows to you lower them where you feel your in the car and not on top of it.

Congrats Nick, enjoy! In terms of colours, I have found that a light colour just makes a big car look bigger and this is made worse if the car has a round and smoothed shape. I have in the past chosen dark colours to hide black plastics. In terms of air suspension, it could come down to whether you will use it on gravel roads on a weekend. I mountain bike here in South Africa, so would want the plusher ride.

Great choice Nick. When my S4 died I made a rushed decision and bought my Macan, thinking I would regret it. Nothing could be farther from the truth. I don’t regret going to the dark side at all. I can haul all sorts of things around practically, and then I can haul ass when the competition arises. Here in Canada, we were privileged (blessed?) by Porsche to receive the Exclusive Performance Edition. It’s basically a Turbo with the Performance Package and a bunch of cool options tossed in, for an obscene price. I plan to bring it down to the next get together. Enjoy your new ride, bro!

Love my new Macan S in Crayon. Like you I had some issues with a previous Porsche and the company looked after us well. We bought a pre built car as well which was found for us. Similar spec with a black pack. Found out we had an electric tow bar as well, which we may not use!

I agree the Macan is not a sports car on stilts like some journalists suggest, but I don't think you give its performance chops enough credit. I've had my S for a year and recently found that when you really push it toward the limit it responds with aplomb. Otherwise it can feel like a pretty pedestrian drive, soft and almost wallowy with its weight and roll. Really superb handling vehicle and fun when you need it to be. I think it would beat my 997 C2 around a track. Also PSE is a must IMO. Without it's nearly silent (boring) in the cabin.

Nick- I suggested this car. I have the 2018 Macan S with the same color and wheels and most of the options. One option I love that I didn’t hear you mention is the 360 assist - very helpful when parking. Anyway can’t wait for you to compare the 2018 and 2019 Macan S.

When i came acrioss this channel you were about to buy, or had just bought, the M4. A car i really don't care for (i did love the colour of it though). Now you're letting the Golf go, and that's my favourite of the cars you've owned..and you're replacing it with a SUV. I don't know about you Nick.. Anyways: It looks really good in that colour. By far the prettiest of this size SUVs, to my eyes. I guess you learn to live with the soulless sound of a turbo V6 instead of the fantastic five cylinder, after a while. It's a practical car after all. You deserve praise for holding on to the Golf for so long :)
