One of the very best albums of the 70s. I remember buying this back in March 1978 and playing it to death. All killers and no fillers on this record. This track of course being a massive radio hit, and covered by many.

Funny how cool and sexy I feel listening to this all these decades later. God, those were good times and this was the perfect soundtrack. I was hitchhiking America in the 70s and somebody gifted me a ticket to see them somewhere in CO.

The way Lindsey Buckingham used Christine McVie's voice on this album to accent songs is just magic. The arrangements, the nuance and perfection of this album is pretty much unmatched.

What are you on about? For one, Mick Fleetwood was the leader of the band and Buckingham was also singing backing vocals.
@Shabenn
@Shabenn Ай бұрын
@GaryNoone-jz3mq Well, since you missed it, I was referring to Christine's voice on the album. And since you don't seem to know, Lindsey was a major part of the arranging of the songs, recording, mixing and producing the whole album. As for Mick being leader of the band, that has nothing to do with my comment at all. Calm down

Hi Guys, I remember buy on vinyl the very 1st self titled Fleetwood Mac album featuring the new line up with Lindsey Buckingham & Stevie Nicks having loved this group prior to this change. It is a great album but the follow up "Rumours" has turned into a classic in Rock History. It is exceptionally brilliant. I also bought on vinyl in the 70's, the album "Buckingham and Nicks" before they joined Fleetwood Mac, and the tracks on there are wonderful ...Sooo good in fact, that Fleetwood Mac took a number of those tracks for the group and re-recorded them. They are a different mix but very recognisable as the very same songs. Well worth getting if you can. This track "Dreams" is a fantastic song with both melody and lyrics. Yea ..that bass through good speaks is awesome ! The next time I heard a bass line like that which made me go "Ooo", was when Dire Straits" did the track "Six Blade Knife" ...and that "Ooo" just oozed sensuality, along with Mark Knopfler's vocals making the track sizzle. Play in a car and your windows will steam up. Lol [ You think I'm kidding ? ...Nooo ! ] Fleetwood Mac live are well worth watching on dvd. They sound brilliant live. "Rhiannon" is amazing live ! Especially the early footage of Stevie Nicks dressed in black lace. She almost becomes possessed towards the end, singing more intensely, in a way not on the studio album. Byee Jim X

I love how Nick's sounds like she has a plugged nose during parts of the verses, like when she says "still reserve the memory of what you had...". I always feel like imperfections of that sort are what separate great vocals from technically good vocals.

This would be a good tune for y'all to learn and jam on. It's basically just F and G over and over on the bass. It's mostly timing and feel. Lex has that naturally. It's in the key of Am , so Nick can just play some cool lead fills with that scale, maybe use a volume pedal to get those swells, and rock away all night long 😄 Perfect song from a perfect album. The previous album "Fleetwood Mac" is also. I met Mick Fleetwood once, about twenty years ago. In a food court.He was standing in a long line with me waiting to order Chinese food. Super nice guy. We had a long conversation while waiting to order and pick up our food. I don't think anyone else recognized him. You could see their tour bus in the parking lot. They had just played an afternoon show in town.

Never did hear this particular full album reaction on Patreon...Headed there now! OK, now well into the full album reaction, and: This song/album was the soundtrack to my junior and senior year of college, played endlessly in dorms and student apartments along with Boston, Journey, Earth, Wind & Fire, Boz Scaggs, and of course The Dan's Aja (as for me the first Gabriel solo, Trick of the Tail, and Animals)...Fleetwood Mac played my little college the year this came out just before they hit so big they'd never play a dinky 2,500 student college again...As for Nick's observation of this being 50 year old music, and that when they were young 50 years ago meant the 40's...Realize what came IMMEDIATELY before the 1964-1978 era of Rock, that 50 years prior was 1914-1928 and it gives greater perspective on how revolutionary it felt at the time, because it truly was...

This album is absolute perfection. I hVe close to 8,000 album, but this one is one of the very few I never grow tired of. And John McVie and Mick Fleetwood demonstrate perfectly that being a fabulous rhythym section isn’t about technique/firework. It’s about the feel and the flow. If I had just one album to produce that would be the bass/drum combo I would want.

First we blamed radio for failing to find Fleetwood, then we blamed radio for killing them, by playing them to death. Made up for lost time I guess. Their early works are still underplayed though. Good to hear this anew after decades. Sunny side of heaven.

That's really nice music. This song, as well as "gypsy" made my wife and me almost cry first time hearing it. Nevertheless, suggest you try listening to their original blues rock band (later called "Peter Green's Fleetewod mac") Songs like "Albatross" "O'h weĺl" "Shake your money maker"... Songs that had a huge influence to the later heavy rock, prog rock etc.

I like Stevie Nicks but as a Brit I find it very hard to understand the words here. I am afraid that albums like this and Dark Side of the Moon and Hotel California ensured that UK punk was inevitable. I think that Donald Fagen would have been very sarcastic about this track. Nothing like Steely Dan. Trouble is a lot of us still like the original blues Fleetwood Mac. Nice review.
