I love hoyas! I have 45. My favourite leaves are green macrophylla, fitchii, globulosa, nong nooch (finlaysonii fam), caudata and super fuzzy thomsonii :) fortunately, the price craze for hoyas hasn’t reached Europe and we can get any cutting for 8-10 dollars.

If you like the felt leaved hoyas, you might like the H. madulidii or the H. ciliata. They're very similar to each other except the ciliata has bigger, darker flowers. As a Filipino plantita (plant-auntie in our slang), I feel so fortunate to both be a Hoya lover and be living in a place where so many hoyas are easily accessible.
@beknight93994 жыл бұрын
Hi Nick, would suggest to increase the humidity for your Hoya Fitchii. This works well on all my Hoyas that "do nothing for me" for several month. 💚💚💚

*Hoya Hanhiae* was a spur of the moment purchase on ebay. She was such a nice surprise when she arrived. I love the colour, the cute chubbier shape of the leaves and the slight veining. Also seems to be quite easy to care for. Really one of my favourites and if you find one you should get it everyone. Rather common but really cool because it is FUZZY(!!!!!!) is the *Thomsonii* . As long as he gets the right humidity he seems to be doing okay in my home too. Also common and rather easy but just too f*cking adorable to not consider is the *Hoya Mathilde* ...of course I /might/ be a little partial because of the name. I also recently got a *Loheri* and though I can't say much about it yet care-wise the leaf shape is really cute in my opinion. I generally like those narrow leaves in hoyas.

Great video! I’ve really fallen in love with Hoyas over the past few years. I think my favorites in my collection at the moment are my serpens and obovata. I would love it if you could do a video on how to make your Hoyas bloom! Thanks for the new suggestions and the cost consideration.
@kim_bucha4 жыл бұрын
You mentioned that some Hoya would appreciate getting fried in a southern-facing window-could you do a video about plants (or even just Hoya) that would thrive in those conditions? I have predominantly S/W windows and a growing Hoya collection, wondering if any of them would do better with more light
@plantwithroos4 жыл бұрын
Oh I love that idea, I have big south facing windows and it's been a trial and error of what can live there. Might make that video (sorry Nick, you also make it cos you know much more than me!!)
@walle56672 жыл бұрын
My Memoria loves direct light and lots of it. The Carnosas, Pubicalyx and Australis, too. Krohniana isn't complaining, either. I wouldn't put Wayetii into a South facing window, mine got burnt a bit. Lockii also not recommended.

I love Hoyas, but unique ones are so expensive for tiny plants. I still keep collecting some when I get lucky and find one online or randomly at a garden center. At least the small ones leave space to collect a lot. lol...addicts we are all plant addicts.

My cummingiana has been such a good grower for me over the last year and it's looking great! No flowers yet but the foliage and growth habit is adorable. I have a Hoya kanyakumariana which is certainly an oddball as far as foliage goes. Fairly uncommon but it wasn't expensive (15$ or so). Slow grower but I don't mind, it just makes me smile because it's so weird 😊

Oh my god I finally found out what my hoya is called! I bought it about 4 or 5 years ago and it was called hoya lanceolata. But all I found when recently googling were pictures of hoya bella. Now I know it's a vaccinioides! I tried googling "hoya bella small leaves", but nothing came up. Thank you! I also have like 10 cuttings of it and it flowered for the first time this year.

I've had a hoya for 13 years and in all that time it has never bloomed. I heard or read somewhere that it doesn't like being disturbed or moved, and because I would either repot it or remove it from the shelf or fiddle with its vines when they would weigh down the little plastic trellis, it would refrain from booming, so I have pretty much given up on that. Also, in my experience with this one (don't know which one it is, probably carnosa) it does better in shade than in direct sunlight of my east facing flat. I've propagated it once unsuccessfully, and recently I cut out the branches that got broken and the leaves started yellowing, and the remaining vines are doing well, one is even actively growing. Anyway, cool story, bro.

Beautiful! I love seeing all the varieties of Hoyas! I purchased one this summer and it was just labeled as hoya with no specific type. I wish I knew what kind it is. It's variegated and has a tiny bit of pink on it.
@mairzeedotes54844 жыл бұрын
There is a Facebook hoya ID page, but it is probably a Carnosa as they are the most common found. If the variegation is on the inside, it's a Krimson Princess, and if it's on the outside, it's a Krimson Queen.
