Thanks Nick, I've been looking forward to this since you said you were going to do it. The yojumbo converted me from benchmade to spyderco!

My scales are warped. I found this out after spending a ton of time trying to get it centered. It will never center until aftermarket scales are released. Still love it. It's an honorary cold steel with grippy G10 and hooge blade.

Hello Nick!Your problems with centering was all becouse when You put knife together always start with pivot screw and then all body screws and in the end will be centered and work grate,but if not try to slightly unscrew all body screws but not pivot,and push knife blade in the way it is off with fingers and hold knife in hand and tight all of them one buy one and centering will be good.If interested can watch how its done on Best Damn EDC Taylor Martin chanel type blade centering.And about action...those two body screws whitch holds stop pin cant be snug tighten.must be loosen little bit and tighten with feel with locktight.Hope will help!Good day!

I was waiting for the step where you take out the vice, and bend the blade. ;) In reality, I've stopped worrying TOO much about blade centering, as long at it isn't affecting the operation of the knife. But agree that it's good practice to work to perfect centering when doing a servicing....

whats with the other side of the pivot? Is it fixed along with the washer? My Yo2 came with horrific centering. After hours of tweaking I found the adjusting the body screw closest to the pivot fixed the issue.

If you toss out the made for combat part of both the Yojimbo and Yojumbo there's tons of utility there. Kinda like a box cutter. This and the Canis are extremely useful in this manner. Although out of my crazy love or the occasion murdered out knive, I'd love to see a wise men ring for the yojimbo.

Yojimbo and Canis are fine knives designed by experts in their own field, Yojimbo has the long slimmer end so it can be used as a kuboton epically when closed

@Prizrak-hv6qk4 ай бұрын
My black YoJumbo came with bad action, bad blade centering and constantly loosening pivot screws. When it took it apart, I discovered that the pivot was running on 3 washers - two of them on the compression lock side. When I leave out that extra washer, the centering gets even worse, with the blade hitting the side of the liner. From what I can tell, Spyderco made scales/liners that don't come together correctly on the pivot, making the blade critically off center. So, instead of throwing them away, they shimmed one side with an extra washer, so that the blade at least doesn't rub against the side. It was really hard to find the pivot screw tightness "sweet" spot, where the action was loose enough and yet, there was no blade play. To achieve this, I had to leave the lock pin screws pretty loose. Big disappointment after my Military 2 and Manix 2 XL came so perfect "out of the box". :)

I hate this handle design... Tha guy at "HILLtop knives and gear" does an amazing job modifying these Yojumbos and make'em much more edc friendly, or how I see it much more useful... Anyway thanks for sharing and keep up the great work. Much love from Switzerland

OCD Overtime.....@0810 & again @0910....while talking about trapping schmutz between the blade.....you proceed to trap schmutz between the scale (great big thread staring at me)......yes I'm afraid I'm one of your veiwers who battle with the amount of lint and dust on your work surface! I'm sure it's only a secondary issue (if that) for you (and I'm trying to get over it......Honestly I am......trying.....but it's a thing). Wicked looking blade, love a nice hollow grind, thanks for show and tell, cheers

Ive gotten spyderco knives from the factory that were rocksolid no play and the action super smooth. I have also gotten knives that had play in the blade but action was smooth until you tightened it and then action was sticky. I found those knives not able to fix them. Sucks. Spyderco are hit and miss on the actions.

#Nickshabazz I have a kershaw where the pivot pin didnt have a cut out flat section just like this knife meaning that you coukd and indieed had to tighten the pivot from both sides of the knife, the blade cones iff centre soo easily and makes it really difficult and figitee to get the blade centred. I think its just a downside of the design.

@jacknemo80214 жыл бұрын
Ugly and of limited utility. For me Spyderco has had little success when deviating from their iconic leaf shaped blade. Actually only the Smock tbh, and at that price point the Kizer Genie is superior to the Smock. Basically get a PM2 or 3 in LC200N and then ignore Spyderco while you go nuts in the aftermarket parts market.
@johndesper94254 жыл бұрын
Spyderco has lots of good, boring options that are all years-old. Anytime they attempt to innovate, they struggle; they usually just make worse, uglier, less valuable versions of their classics. How many $200 Compression Lock knives with CPM-S30V and fake carbon fiber have they made?
