Na. People love repeating this online, but Dallas is what held him back. People should go watch Thinking Basketball's Offensive Legends video about Nash. D'Antoni's system is not why Nash was great, D'Antoni's system was great because it allowed Nash to play freely. In Dallas he had no freedom to be the offensive genius he truly was. His role was to be a generic PG running basic set plays in an offense that was super heliocentric around Dirk. He'd often be told to to pass it to Dirk then camp at the 3pt line. PHX was the perfect place for him. Amare was the perfect roll partner, something Nash didn't have in Dallas. Mark Cuban can say "Letting Nash walk was my biggest mistake" but that's pure hindsight. I don't think Dallas would've magically figured out how to best utilize him. And who knows if Nash even levels up like he did unless he goes to Phx. He started taking his conditioning much more seriously + Phx had the best medical team in the league during that time. It was the perfect situation for him to be in. He got to be himself.

NASH was by far the best player on those 2 years...the only player close to him on those 2 seasons was DIRK. People who say KOBE was better then him dont know a thing about basketball. THOSE SUNS without NASH were losing every game and whenever he was on the bench they would lose all the advantage.. PEOPLE say oh AMARE is the reason why they are winning..AMARE got injured and SUNS were still the best team. NASH made everyone better... KOBE made everyone worse... KOBE scored 35 points but he only give his team 44 points on 36 possessions. NASH gave his team 40 points on just 17 possessions...meaning his team got another 19 possessions....to get 4 points.

But back then if u didn't or couldn't play defense you were gonna get murdered. And he did. It wouldn't have hurt him to be a little taller also. Now offensively he was great. Sweet ass shot. @@onlyfacts3178 In 2005-2006 Nash’s Phoenix Suns finished 2nd in the Western Conference with the Lakers finishing 7th. But Steve Nash had help from Shawn Marion, Raja Bell, Leandro Barbosa, and Boris Diaw who won the Most Improved Player award.. Kobe had Smush Parker, Kwame Brown, Chris Mihm. The only legitimate other player on the Lakers besides Kobe was Lamar Odom, and Odom wasn’t even an All-Star that year. Shawn Marion was for the Suns. The Lakers shouldn’t have even made the playoffs, but only because of Kobe they did. Steve Nash: 18.6 points per game, 3.5 rebounds per game, 10.5 assists per game, 0.8 steals per game. Kobe Bryant: 35.4 points per game, 5 rebounds per game, 4.5 assists per game, 1.8 steals per game. Kobe Bryant’s PER for 2005-2006: 28 Steve Nash’s PER for 2005-2006: 23.3 But oh wait, who else had that same exact PER during that season as Steve Nash? Shawn Marion, Nash’s teammate. So Nash had at least one player that contributed as much as he did to pass the ball to. Shawn Marion: 21.8 points per game, 11.8 rebounds per game, 1.8 assists per game, 1.98 steals per game, 1.69 blocks per game. Shawn Marion led the Suns in points, rebounds, steals, and blocks. This is the season where Kobe dropped 61 points against the Dallas Mavericks in just three quarters, outscoring the entire Mavericks team. Where he dropped 81 points against the Toronto Raptors. When Kobe averaged 43.4 points in January 2006, the highest scoring month since Wilt Chamberland’s 45.8 point average in March 1963. When Kobe became one of the five players to score at least 2,800 points in a single season (Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, Bob McAdoo). Kobe scored 50+ points six different times during that season, he scored 40+ points 27 times, the most since Michael Jordan had 37 40+ games in 1986-1987. It was one of the greatest ever individual seasons in NBA history. But you bring up EFFICIENCY as the big single reason why Nash deserved the MVP?? You do realize that this is just another reason why Kobe deserved it instead. Alongside all of those other more relevant stats that Nash didn’t come close to equally or exceeding, it shows that Kobe HAD TO shoot more and work more, because he had no real help beyond Lamar Odom. Kobe carried his trash team to the playoffs almost entirely on his own back. Kobe’s 2005-2006 season was legendary. Kobe had far less to work with, and he accomplished far more than Nash had to or did. Winning records don’t make an MVP, because then better teams would outweigh better INDIVIDUAL performance, achievements, and player impact. Kobe was robbed, and that season is generally considered one of the biggest and most obvious MVP snubs of all time.
@krisharkleroad8 Жыл бұрын
Seriously. Shaq was 22 and 10. Tom Chambers numbers and never an MVP. Nash had to use so much energy and effort to do what he did. He orchestrated the whole offense, Shaq just got his fat ass down on the block and took his little 5 foot hook or dunk by bully ball. Couldn't finish games cause they would Shaq a hack him. Steve was a sure thing at the line. Nash could shoot from anywhere on the court. Shaq 5 foot shooting radius. Basketball talent difference is insane. Shaq Sumo wrestler.
