Love the videos! You've mentioned harmonic mixing/eq'ing. Can you please discuss that soon? Thanks!
@NickyRomero6 жыл бұрын
Harmonic mixing is more like knowing what key your song is, to apply those frequencies to your EQ, there is a plugin called Fabfilter what can do that for you, you can click the piano roll down the EQ and see what key uses what frequency, its important that you mix the sounds in the same key as the song to get more loudness. Wikipedia spent a page on EQing and harmonic mixing!

Such a great episode tbh and I love all your SMC ♥️🔥 But I always have a problem with the piano and another problem with the bass (1) The piano always makes the track feels like it’s muted or something wrong with all the sounds that are playing together. (2) The bass always does the same issue . ........ Can you explain please why your tracks don’t have this problem!!!

Hey Nicky! Thanks for the masterclass. Can you teach how to choose, layer and mix chords in progressive house?
@NickyRomero6 жыл бұрын
Its hard to really teach this, you need to train your ears to know what gap you miss in the mix, but I usually put an EQ on the master and slide a shelf from left to right to see where im missing frequencies and try to fill those with either chords or FX

Hey Nicky!How do you work with off beat vocals/audio?
@jonesbrothers20126 жыл бұрын
About mixing, I always struggled with making my drops loud with leaving space to the drum and bass, like I always feel it lacks the explosive feel of a drop. Can you maybe show us how loud should the bass be and how to make the melody clear and loud at the end of the project? Thanks for the series man 🙏
@NickyRomero6 жыл бұрын
It really matters what kick you use, its not a one-way-go if you use a long kick, you should use less bass because the kick is already taking up this space, and when you use a short kick there is more space for bass when you sidechain it. Its really not something I can like give you on a paper, but you have to try to learn your ears what is good. What usually helps is installing magic AB from sample magic, load your favorite drop and keep comparing A/B until you get close. Good samples help also, Splice is a good source of samples!

How you chouse which type of bassline you will have in a song? Is it fallowing the notes from chords or from the melody, and i saw that your sub bass notes are different than top bass.
@NickyRomero6 жыл бұрын
When making progressive, I always take the lowest note of the chords that are playing in the drop. But there is no one rule, you just wanna make sure it blends well with the chords, if no chords, use the key that you like the most, usually G or G# sounds great in every soundsystem because its a frequency almost every system can display well. Roughly around 50hz is a nice 'punch in the stomach' :')
@swarandeep19946 жыл бұрын
Hey, Nicky I have a question regarding making bootlegs... How do you blend the vocals with the chords and right now I'm not talking about mixing and mastering but rather how do you make a bootleg look like one song only, when you just have its acapella.
@NickyRomero6 жыл бұрын
What do you mean here? :)
@swarandeep19946 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply man. What I mean is when you make a bootleg...How do you actually mix it with the chords and melody? Coz I tried making a remix & its sounding more like I'm imposing the vocals on a tune and it's not sounding like a whole song. Please enlighten me on this.
@Aquarius-CZ6 жыл бұрын
What u r saying could mean two things. 1) You have harmony problems - Meaning the chords you have made doesn't match vocals scale. 2) You have problem with volume lvls. In that case you need to improve your mix - analyze frequencies of vocals and leave some space in that area. You can also try to use compression for vocal track. It will give you more volume control and it is gonna be easier to mix it in your track.
@swarandeep19946 жыл бұрын
Hey, Aquarius thanks for your answer man. So, can you give me tips on how to actually mix the vocals with the whole melody, I mean compression is great, but what more element resides in making a good song.
