As someone who used to take Danaher's Thursday afternoon class in NYC with Nicky, I must say that his technique explanation is like John's without the Kiwi accent. Glad to see Nicky come into his own as an instructor.

Round of sparring was really cool. Does the guy with a hoodie has a wrestling background, he was really good at getting from turtle to single leg. The coach, I forgot his name defended really well by keeping his opponent head down then moving around. He hit 3 wonderful sweeps 10’54”,12’28” and 13’30” and the 4th was almost there. Really fun and highly technical spar. The techniques Nicky Ryan taught at the beginning were good, nice details. Oss

interesting wrestling sequence after his opponent passes his guard
@DMK253 жыл бұрын
@@syoussef763 I watched the video again to reply to your comment. There was a nice flow and they didn’t go too hard but we can appreciate that the coach seems more technical and the hoodie guy stronger/maybe also heavier, as it is hard for the coaches to stay on top even after a successful sweep. The scrambles are cool because they go through technique, hand fighting, leg trip attempt, Ashi Garami entries…really cool

Good to practice talking into a camera. I would be dripping sweat if I wore a hoodie while rolling. Man, what a school with both Nickys. There will be line-ups from there to the next state to get in. Both Nickys are great grapplers. I want to cry when I think about Nicky Ryan's older brother Gordon, who is arguably the best BJJ competitor of all time and has a stomach ailment that is keeping him out of competition. Gordon is still young and has years left to get to his prime. It is the saddest thing in sports. I hope that Gordon gets the medical help that he needs to get back to competing. He loves competing and is never happy to just win. He needs a submission in order to feel good about a fight. That's passion. I hope Gordon gets to fight Andre Galvao in a submission only, no time limit fight. That would be the fight of the century. Maybe a best of 3 would be the best way to establish who is the better grappler. My money would be on Gordon, but it would be close. Galvao is no slouch and has beaten all the greatest BJJ guys.
