It looks like this is actually the Xishuiyu Lake. I heard lots of noises from this lake as I walked past en-route from Huanghuacheng Lake along the well restored section to Zhuandaokou, and then over the extremely crumbly section from there to Shihuyucun. The only westerner I met all day was a Polish guy I met on the second bus (from Beijing by public transport, you need to change bus in a random city about 60km from here), and the rest of the walk I saw maybe 15 Chinese hikers in total. I found this section so much more relaxing and picturesque compared to the really famous area at Badaling, where there are so many tourists, it just feels crowded and loud all the time. At the time, there didn't seem very much going on in Huanghuacheng lake (which is a few km east of here), just a dam and some fishing, but you could hear a lot of noises from the lake you were at, but the wall at that point is too high up to see down to what was there.
@ranulfdoswell3 жыл бұрын
Oh, and if you travel from Beijing by bus, it's two buses each way that cost 12元 each if you have credit on a Beijing travelcard, or 24元 each otherwise, so it's substantially cheaper to do that as a day trip by public transport compared to a guided tour.

The Great Wall is an ancient defense project with the longest construction time and the largest quantity in China and the world. Since the seventh and eighth centuries BC, it has been continuously built for more than 2000 years. It is distributed on the vast land in northern and central China, with a total length of more than 50000 kilometers. It was built by different states and then connected together. In Chinese, when the Chinese call the "Great Wall" not the Great Wall, but the ten thousand mile long wall, this may be a modest name. In China, he represents people's pursuit of peace. Of course, there were also useless criticisms of the Great Wall among the ancient Chinese. He also warned future generations that only through unity and reunification can China truly resist foreign enemies
