Another incredible performance from this absolute super-star counter-tenor! His singing seems so effort-less - beautiful vocal quality matched by superb technique - and his stage presence charisma personified. Can't wait to hear him live - but the UK never makes it easy!

That's 'Regietheater' for you! The purpose in extracting this small clip was to demonstrate Balducci's incredible capability as a relatively young singer and it proved that! Questions of how production directors 'interpret' the narrative is something else! I appreciate your point.

@@melcadman oh, yeah, he's amazing. I was just taken aback by the blatant disregard for the character's main features. And I agree, that's regietheater for you. Which unfortunately is often an excuse for the stage director having no idea what the libretto is about.
