Thank you I enjoyed this interview. Great questions and thoughtful answers.

Mr. Sarkozy lost me when he spoke of "climate" and of a "two state solution" with Israel. First, when politicians speak of "climate", they are talking about irrationally draconian reductions in fossil fuels and fertilizer use which will destroy the economies of the West and further impoverish the peoples of the developing world. "Global warming" is not an existential threat to mankind's existence or even human flourishing. I offer to Mr. Sarkozy in support of my opinion the writings and speeches of noted climate and social scientists Patrick Moore, Bjorn Lomberg, Will Happ, Judith Curry, Willy Soon, and others. Second, a "two state solution" will never bring peace and security to Israel as long as an overwhelming majority of "Palestinian" Arabs fanatically believe that their only goals in life are the destruction of Israel, the anihilation of the Jews, and the total replacement of Israel with a Palestinian state. Their political leaders have repeatedly made this clear. On the many occasions when Israel has offered to the Palestinians their own state in the West Bank and Gaza, the Arabs have categorically rejected the proposals. The suggestion that the Gazan Palestinians would create a "Singapore on the Mediterranean" in the Gaza Strip if only given enough financial support from the international community is ridiculous. For seventeen years that has been tried, and what did Israel get? Hundreds of suicide bombings and murders, thousands of rockets fired into Israel, and hundreds of miles of subterranean military tunnels under Gaza! In the wake of October 7th, Mr. Sarkozy's continued naive advocacy of a "two state solution" shows that he has no fundamental understanding of the Arab-Israeli problem.

His invitation to China to mold the world in its image also lacks wisdom.

Dude, their Palestinians get over it. Some of them are even Christian, if you'd care to look it up. Israel and Palestine need to live in peace, no more endless war.

Yes, unfortunately, this interview is one further confirmation of Dr. Dan Shueftan's analysis (he is a security adviser to the Israeli government), who concludes that Europeans live in la-la-land. Mr. Sarkozy could have pointed out that the descendants of several million Germans, who were driven out of their homes in the Eastern part of their country as a result of them supporting a failed Austrian painter and his atrocities, are now allowed to live and work in almost all of these eastern territories again (except the northern part of eastern Prussia, which is now the Russian province of Kaliningrad), without even needing any special permit thanks to the European Union. An arrangement like this could be a worthwhile goal that a wise Palestinian leadership could pursue, instead of bombing, abducting and harassing Israelis. Unfortunately, I don't see this happening in the foreseeable future. Rather, the shameful anti-semitism in the West convinces both Israelis and Jews outside of Israel, that a Jewish state is needed now more than ever.

Nice to see this podcast put on a Frenchman for once. Odd considering Roberts has written a book on the giant of French political history.

He says one really based thing at the beginning but the rest of it is an insight into why French politics has collapsed into chaos. Strange also to hear Andrew describe Italy's government as hard right. Of course you can't account for all her party but one of Meloni's guiding influences is Roger Scruton, I would not attach so threatening a designation to him.
