I got the impression that you designed interiors. Is that true or false? And if not, why not? You obviously have an eye for it, not just objects, but scale, color, where to save, where to splurge, etc. Lot's of YT offer design services and clients pay according their needs - full service or just a few tips and hacks. And in the US, no certification is required, but it probably helps when marketing.

Nicolas, I am fighting the urge to say the following sentence: “His mother would be so proud of him.”. as a person pushing 70, it is a pure joy to me to encounter such an elegant, eloquent and fine young fellow as you showing us his exceptionally fine decorating skills. I would hire you in a flash, but we are Norwegians in the very northern reaches of Norway who have an entirely different esthetic, ie; not many things to choose from that would give a refined English Homes and Gardens vibe.❤️

As a twenty year interior designer, it's really interesting to see style through your eyes. The interior design industry here in the states is pretty guilty of showing only highly modern style that it imagines is most appealing to younger people, but there is a lot of comfort and pleasure to be found in traditional design elements no matter your age or generation. Your design POV sets you apart in that respect. Bravo. Keep up the beautiful work.

Hi Nicholas. Really enjoyed this video. Some suggestions for your to ponder on: How about putting the Buro between the two windows facing the street. You will still be able to see whats going on outside, but you will still have some privacy when working. Although it will cover the paneling, its not permanent. The Buro is a fabulous piece and the brown will also balance out the room. Another possibility will be to put the Buro against the blank wall in the middle with the two half white tables to balance the wall. The Buro is really beautiful. I have a very old Napoleon style study table with the small apartments and drawers to put in stationary. Open your desk up and put it in the place where the Buro is now. Again it will balance out the brown in the room. Some big bright flowerily pattern material for the sofas will brighten up the room. Love the console table in your lobby. Beautiful. A real old French mirror will round it off in your Foyer. Enjoy making your home beautiful for yourself!

I enjoyed your tour very much! And, you have a lovely flat! I have a suggestion for your bureau; you can enhance and change the back of your shelves by painting or wallpapering thin board cut to fit each shelf or just cutting pieces of thick poster board. You are such a wonderful artist that you could paint vines or scenes of your liking for the background. Wallpaper is a beautiful and easy way to lighten and change the look. Just wrap the boards and place them in. So easy and can be beautiful. And, so easy to change even with the seasons. I love decorating too and I think your taste is excellent! Thank you for sharing your ideas with us!💗

Hi Nicholas, Thank you for inviting me into your home via this video, it is just lovely (adore the high ceiling and all the trim). I very much appreciated your space saving and budget conscience DIY advise, being that I am an urban apartment dweller as well. I loved your eclectic approach to decorating. Like I do prefer to paint older pieces, but it is very important to keep some natural wood as well (so well done with the cabinet in your living area). I agree that it is important to splurge on some key pieces that you find on sale and that will travel with you as you as you age, and will no doubt last you a life time. I also agree that buying various accessories need not be from expensive stores, as half the fun is treasure hunting for what fits your personality and budget. I must say though that is finally time to stop spending money on those plants that you continually kill, as much as you love them, lol... I went thru a similar faze when I was your age....it's time to move on to something different now. Best regards and good luck, Sherry, Toronto, Canada

I’m only 5 minutes in and I truly adore how you speak so openly and honestly in your sentiments regarding certain aspects of the flat, for example the bare wall. KZbin is such a disingenuous place, and I love how you so plainly put that “I cannot afford to put what I want on the walls at the moment”. It sounds silly but that was so blissful to hear; refreshing actually. You could have so easily made something up. Little things like that, just make us adore you more. You have exceptional style Nicolas ❤️ I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the bare wall in due course.

A fun way to add affordable art to your big wall is to buy a large map of an area/town/country that is meaningful to you. Then use tea to age the map. You could even tear the edges some. Then buy a pre-made frame (much less expensive than a custom frame). I have three maps on a dining room wall - one is the metro map I used on my first trip to Paris 49 years ago, one is a map of northern France that my grandfather brought home from WWI, and one is a vintage map of the USA written in French. We rode our bicycles across the USA so that is why that map (which I bought in Paris) is meaningful to me.

On your large bare wall, perhaps a mirror wall would look nice. Where you collect inexpensive and varied mirrors in all different finishes and sizes, some hanging from chains, most in gold, some wood, and perhaps a long stand-up mirror to the right of the console. The amount of light this type of installation bounces around the room during the day is amazing and at night, mirrors are the perfect reflective surface for candlelight. Love your videos. Just a thought!

I am one of those who requested a tour, especially of the kitchen and now I am convinced that you don't bring all of your food, etc. into the living room to film, lol. What is not to love about the kitchen. It is beautiful, comfortable and cozy, just like your entire flat. I like the look of your furniture because it makes your room look lived in. A temporary solution to your blank wall would be a mirror. I purchased 2 large matching oval mirrors with frames and placed a 3 tier plate rack between them and that really filled up a large wall very nicely. Just something to consider until you can afford what you want. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. You did a spectacular job!

Sophie is a doll! White roses are becoming quite a signature item for you--lovely...good tip on taking artwork from books--also single china plates can be economical and beautiful when arranged together...dts

If you need an idea for that blank wall get some inexpensive white sheer curtaining. Ceiling to floor. Creates interest & warmth.

That cabinet (bureau?) is absolutely gorgeous! I'm so glad you decided not to paint that! You have such a lovely place. It's quite my type, it reminds me a little of a grandmother's place, but that's in the best way. Most of my place is decorated with my grandma's things and they all remind me of her and I love all of it! I adore that sweet little pupper of yours! Her laying on the ground all relaxed and floppy is so sweet, I wanted to get on the ground and give her lots of loves!

Nicholas your home is absolutely lovely!! Thank you so much for sharing. I love, love, love your bedroom and I adore your British accent. I live Florida, USA and it's cool to hear the differences in how we say things. For instance, you call your home a Flat, in the US we call it an apartment. And, I love the way that you say the word "really". It's so beautiful with your accent. Again, I "really" enjoyed your Flat tour. You are so beautiful and elegant yet, seem so down to earth and approachable. You have a very inviting spirit and your home reflects this beautifully. Keep those videos coming. God Bless!
