You won't be able to get down that small with this method, unfortunately. Without specialized optics, the image gets more fucked up as you go smaller. You can already see some very significant chromatic aberration in the photo OP took.

Thing is, you don't need DSLR + 20 extension rings, just a smartphone with ~5x optical zoom and a snap on macro lens. This simple setup allows you to observe things too small to see with the naked eye.

During the film photography era, I experimented with macro photography by using a 2x teleconverter and three extension tubes between my camera and a 400mm lens. I placed the entire setup on a tripod about 15 feet away from a tree and spread peanut butter on a tree root in bright sunlight. This allowed me to take close-up images of ants' heads and front legs. The peanut butter created an unusual background effect. I'm looking forward to trying this technique again with my modern camera system.
