Thank you for inviting me along on one of my favourite mudlarking adventures to date! It was a real privilege to finally get on the foreshore with you, considering that it is thanks to you that I discovered this beautiful hobby! Cheers Nic, you little legend! ⭐️

What an amazing collection you have. Im a little envious as mudlarking along the Thames seems like a dream to me. I've done it here in New Orleans but the sheer history that you all have in that area really seems to provide a bounty of finds. Keep up the hunt!

Isn't it amazing that back in ancient times they had the amazing eyesight to engrave such tiny designs as the ones on the tiny blue cufflink. I always think of the lighting with lamps etc, and probably not many people could afford glasses , monocles or what ever. With embroidery , clay pipes etc. it's just amazing how talented and driven our ancestors were to produce such beauty that we can still enjoy and marvel over today.

My first mudlarking was actually as an elementary school student. My mom worked,so we had to walk to our babysitters house after school. The area had been farms, and then turned into modern housing. One or two of the old farmhouses were still there, and the sidewalk was right next to what was undoubtedly the trashdump. The old swayback fence had fragments of china plastered into the soil around it,and I would dig industriously into the soil to reveal them. The mud was hard clay, and there was no stream around, unfortunately, but there was a rabbit that would tempt me,and an apricot tree that had the tastiest little apricots on it,so,needless to say, there were plenty of adventures to sway a kid from the straight and narrow, and brave the scorn of going through "No Tresspassing" signs!

An absolutely amazing video Nicola !!! Wow, the beautiful treasures that Mark had found were stunning !!! I loved the clay pipe bowl of a beautiful woman, that darling little bell of which I have a little bell similar to his & it is open but the long points were bent inwards just enough to keep a metal ball inside & that's what makes the jingle sound !!! It looks very old & I got it at a thrift store. Loved his Cameos & the two tiny round blue 💙 glass (?) & the two stampers !!! All so cool 😎 !!! Your pipes too Nicola !!! Wonderful seeing you with your family again !!! Your nephew is very smart 🤓 sounds like a professor & love his soft voice. Enjoyed your video. Much love to you Nicole from the USA ♥️🤍💙 !!!

So much to love about this video! First, your mother is lovely. All of your family is so nice and your nephew is darling! I loved the finds Mark showed us. Especially the spoon handle and the pipe with the lovely woman. I would think the smoker of that pipe would have held that one quite dear!
