When the tide is low on the Thames all sorts of treasures and fragments of history are revealed and are waiting to be discovered - all of them with fascinating stories. Last week I met up with Ted Sandling who is the Author of "A Mudlark's Treasures - London in Fragments". Over the course of a couple of hours we found some wonderful treasures including a vintage sardine tin. Now did you realise that a vintage sardine tin can actually be a very exciting find?! Well yes it can. It is just one of the wonderful objects that the low tide revealed for us.
You also have the chance to win a free copy of Ted's book "A Mudlarks Treasures - London in Fragments" we have 3 to give away and all you need to do is comment in the comments section followed by #AMudlarksTreasures
I'll be drawing the winners on Sunday 30th May.
If you would like to buy Ted's book (I love it by the way - and I think you will too if you love mudlarking), then a new edition is coming out on 18th May and you can find it here in this link as well as in any good bookshop.
smarturl.it/amu...
It is also available as an audiobook here on audible - from 18th May:-
www.audible.co...
Thank you for watching everyone. If you are tempted to try mudlarking then you need a permit from the Port of London Authority and you can find all the details on their website here:-
www.pla.co.uk/...
You can follow Ted on instagram and twitter @tedsandling and you can follow me on
@tidelineart
See you soon.
Love Nicola xxx

So glad to see you out with Ted once again on the foreshore. He is so knowledgeable and still has a spark for the quirky things of life -- imagine a sardine tin having that much history and that he was excited to take it to his son. What a wonderful lark. #AMudlarksTreasures

Pipes are easy, coins are easy, but pottery, only just pottery or manufactured clay pots, vases, etc.., when, how, who - that's an art. It's very delicate! It needs so much knowledge - like getting a new art style, not to create but to rediscover the ancient idea and handcraft, and try to relate those broken pieces to make sense and as what they where used and by whom and for what purpose!...And when!

It's always so amazing to see the great variety of historical treasures along the Thames River. Nicola White, You are my Favourite! Ted you too have such keen eyes finding treasure on the foreshore! So jealous of you guys there! Your videos make me want to visit England on a learning permit to mudlark there. A former USAF Military man stationed there years ago (1990) at RAF Chicksands. So many fond memories of friends made, places travelled, Historical sights visited, there's so much History there... everywhere you go! Keep on Mudlarking! #AMudlarksTreasures.
