Oh the route we have done so many times in earlier years! Had to quickly watch this older video. We did Kruger just after Cyclone Eloise in 2021. It was stunning with water just oozing out of the rock following the routes along the Lebombo range. We "rediscovered" Kruger in 2002 and since then the ocean trips simply went out the window! Love Cape Town though... My birth place.... This was a lovely video guys, will share later today with my wife. You two just got me all worked up again to load the camper and go! We used to do many November to February trips. It is simply awesome. The grass is not long yet as it would be at the end of the rain season and in many places Kruger is like a never-ending golf course in early summer... and best of all, most everything is having babies in this time of year. So shrug off the heat is the message to folk who are planning to do the summer Kruger haul, just GO!

Just got back from our first family road trip to Kruger. It’s a long drive from CPT! As a first-timer, the Kruger routes self-drive book from HPH publishing is a must-have. I’ll definitely be taking that again for future trips.

Can't wait to see your vlogs again. Especially in Kruger, my Happy Place. One suggetion to take with is a first aid kit as there is not always a doctor immediately on call at all the camps, although there is a doctor in Skukuza. Just for any insect bites, scrapes & scratches etc. Thanks for sharing, love your episodes.😉❣️

Hi guys, hope your trip is not rained out this time of the year. I'm based in the park and we have been told that the rains this year are going to equal 2000 flood levels. I'm situated on a private concession near Skukuza and the Sabie River is flowing super strongly. It will be raining on and off for the next few days and hope your trip is not affected. I think you will be pleasantly surprised, we've had awesome rain and in my 40 years here in Phalaborwa I haven't seen the bush so lovely and lush as it is this year. As I sit and write this the rain is coming down. Looking forward to your videos from the Park. We are currently experiencing a multitude of snakes here in peoples houses, the latest was a Mozambique Cobra found in the toilet bowl in the house. Also a lot of scorpions wondering around, but it's nature at its best and so awesome. Travel safe. Love and blessings from Phalaborwa.

Wow, that’s incredible! When we went up to Kruger last year Jan after the cyclone, that Satara region of the park honestly looked like the Delta with all of the long grasses and Ellie’s strolling through, so after reading your message, I can’t wait to see what it looks like now ☺️ Thanks for the inside info & we can’t wait to be up in your neck of the woods soon!

As a child we often went there for holidays. As a bachelor I often camped alone there. Glorious times. Then met my wife. We went there for a decade at every chance. Then she fell in love with extreme sports and she got a dog that's like our baby. Long story short, get there very seldom now. Miss it badly. It's in my blood.

HI Nicole, Very cool you are coming up to the northern part of the world to experience Kruger National Park. I just spent 3 nights there, Skakuza and Satara and I was fortunate enough to see the big 5 once and big 3, 3 times which is rare these days as sightings are not as good as they used to be. Over the past 4 years I have spent 400 days in the Kruger and have experienced 90% of it. I am going back to Spend tomorrow night and Sunday before the gate times change if you are in the area it would be awesome to meet up?

What a fantastic informative vlog. Very interesting and full of ideas and stuff to take. What sun protection factor cream would u recommend. Thank you for your awesome video. I have been to Kruger over 40 times in my life. I’ve been living in UK for five years and wish to visit the Kruger in April next year for 9 nights. I can’t take all the braaivlies things, like the braaivlies grid, tongs etc so can these be bought at Skukuza plus a cooler bag?

Skukuza Parks shop is so kitted, you can pretty much find anything and everything there nowdays so you should be sorted :) Enjoy it!!!

This is very interesting and informative. What kind of luggage do you use? And also how do you pack camera, binoculars, guide books so that they are safe and conveniently at hand in the car while you are on safari?

Thanks Denise - I typically use a soft duffel bag (depends on my duration) but because we drive to a lot of these places & space is limited in the car, we like to have bags that are soft and can pack down. Our cameras travel up in our backpacks in a camera cube, but as soon as we’re in the national parks, we set up a little home for them on the back seat - often on a pillow or towel - so that we can grab them in an instant should we something. Our binoculars are constantly on our laps or on our person, but those usually travel up in their protective cases in our backpacks too :)

Hey Chris :) The national park is seriously the bee’s knees 🐝 It’s just pretty humbling being in a massive wilderness space (it’s about the size of Israel). We’re driving up so that we can have our own wheels & gear up there, but also love a good road trip so enjoy that aspect of it too! It is definitely way more convenient to fly into either Skukuza Airport in the park itself, or one of the surrounding towns.
