We're going stir crazy too, I think most people are. Lots of people doing DIY or gardening. At least you've got some stunning views with Table Mountain right there!

Most definitely - and being able to see the ocean provides a sense of nature to some degree as well so it could definitely be worse. Looking forward to 1 June when we move down to phase 3..hopefully that will mean a surfing video :)

how is the watersituation going on in Cape Town right now?
@NicoleEddy14 жыл бұрын
Our water situation is good here in Cape Town, the average dam levels have dropped again during this past Summer but last year we had a lot of late rain compared to normal and we've already had some good rains as we head into Winter :) Everyone is still advised however to be cognisant of their water consumption as we definitely don't want a repeat of the drought a few years ago!

Have you been traveling at all?
@NicoleEddy14 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately no travel is allowed at the moment, although I think that might be changing on 1 June. We were given 1 week for interprovincial travel hence why we drove back to Cape Town, but apart from that - no travel is on the cards for me :) x

You know at some churches they install speakers that broadcast intermitent sounds of eagles or hawks or something like that. And it makes the pigeons go away. They don't even come close.
@NicoleEddy14 жыл бұрын
Yes, so we've tried playing nosies of eagles, hawks and other birds of prey but these don't even flinch. They have gotten so damn comfortable around us haha! I've been given the suggestion of rubber snakes, so I might try that and see if it works.

Hi Nicole. Thanks for the awesome video of the mountain. Mis Cape Town. Some advice for the pigeon issue. Get a couple of rubber snakes and place them on your balcony or get a Hawk statue, the rubber snakes worked for us😋 Love the view from your place, keep well xxx
@NicoleEddy14 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the advice Lucia :) Great idea, I think I might have to make pit-stop into a cheap kiddies store tomorrow and get some rubber snakes! These pigeons have got so comfortable here that not much scares them these days, haha. I'll keep you posted with the progress!

Basically in America you have 2 thoughts going on...open up or stay closed...thankfully I live in a state that is opened back up. We have to move on with life and get back to the “old normal”. Screw the “new normal”..
@NicoleEddy14 жыл бұрын
We're in the exactly the same boat here! Most of us are saying open everything up, the virus will spread one way or another, but at the moment with our economy and majority of our population living hand to mouth - we cannot afford to keep industry shut any longer as it's causing more problems than it's solving . Our government however seems to err on the first school fo thought, which has led to quite a big outcry from the public. With South Africa's track record of high-level corruption, unfortunately it's sometimes hard to trust that they have our best interests at heart. But we will see, I guess it' new territory to navigate for any president!

Disappointing really. You chose to go to that lovely place with all the excuses as to why you needed to be there only to the break lockdown and travel back home when it no longer suited you. Shocking, really shocking and just lost a subscriber.
@NicoleEddy14 жыл бұрын
‘To break lockdown’? Please inform yourself properly before making quite a severe accusation of us breaking the law. After 5 weeks of being under level 5 lockdown (and having only planned on being there for the initial proposed 3 week lockdown), the South African government granted its residents permission for inter-provincial travel back to their place of residence from 1-7 May which is when we traveled back to Cape Town. Not knowing when next we might get the opportunity to travel back home, I think we certainly had the right to drive back to our own home. Please feel free to ask me first what the situation was before jumping to extremely judgemental conclusions!
