It's fun to see the difference in how driving is taught and legal in different countries. E.g where I'm from, you can start learning 3 months before you turn 17, but not from you parents. It's only legal and possible if you join a driving school where an instructor teaches you theory and practical driving. There are some specific things you need to try in a closed area made for driving. The first time is when you are taught how the car works for 3 hours and then it's on road. And then right before the practical drivers test and after the theory test (has to be passed and taken at a police station or other public services institution) you get back to the closed area and are taught how to brake hard and drive on wet pavement without losing control of the car. It is mandatory to have 29 theory sessions ( of 45 minutes) 4 sessions on closed maneuver lane, 16 on open road and 4 at a road safety Center (wet pavement). And it all ends when you pass the drivers test (with a license instructor), which is always on open road and is usually 30-45 minutes. Normally takes 3 months and the practical test in only passable after the age of 17 and then you can drive alone after 18 until then you drive with a person over 30 has had a drivers license with no clip or bigger police involvement for 10 years.
