The writers for Nic are not being clear on reasons for her decision to split. It comes across as she’s playing the martyr so maeve can be free, as per her conversation with harper. Yet to maeve she’s says she’s suffocated.

Don't like the direction Maeve's and Nicole's relationship is taking like after the wedding accident, Theo kiss and all, now they are enjoying to throw this relationship into a war zone. Nicole don't even have a solid reason why she wants to end things. And more I don't want best friends ruined on the mix, they need a strong support to make this through.
