OMG! I can't believe I found this song! I played this over and over again back in the 70s and 80s.....makes me cry every time.

Me too, I found it again. Slightly different story. I lived in a male dorm with all these other dudes back in the late 70's. Loved it. And this one guy used to play this song which I really enjoyed. Ever since I've wondered, What was that song and who sang it? Then today, out of the blue in the shower, I began to sing this song. Then I searched on KZbin for it. Thinking the singer must have been Bonnie Raitt, I searched for it with her name, but nothing came up. Then I tried with just the title, as best as I could guess it, and here it is. Beautiful, and such lovely memories associated with it. Thank you Nicolette Larsen. I'm happy I finally learned your name.

I used to sit in the basement as a kid playing this record on repeat. This song is one of my favorites. So heartbreaking.

A heartbreakingly beautiful song written by Frey/Souther, and a stunning vocal by Nicolette Larson. It doesn't get much better than this.

Nicolette's voice; drips honey as dew from heaven & then melts you away into velvet. She is the epitome of Femininity: pure, innocent, soft shoulders and the long beautiful hair, pretty eyes. Her Beauty is BREATH-TAKING!!! The angel from heaven. 1 of The LORD's gifts to our so-blessed BOOMER generation; taken awaaaaay to early. This song . . .can't stop weeping

As a huge George Strait fan, I love this song. Strait has 60 number one hits and yet this song is my favorite of his, and sadly it was never released to the airwaves. Nicolette does an incredible job on this, amazing! May God rest her soul.

This song will always remind me of "the last slow dance" I had with a girl that I was so in love with, but alas, her heart didn't feel the same way...

Um, let me see. I'm here listening to this, and reading the comments. Then I see this one I made from a year ago. I'd forgotten about it. It appears I was feeling 'a bit vulnerable and emotional' that day to write such a thing. I've been a fan of Nicolette's for decades, sure, and especially this song. I just forgot. It takes me back to that time in the late 70's, when it was indeed me who was 'the last in love' both before after the split. And so it goes...
