McCaskill is completely correct in her analysis. However, I can't understand how anyone can listen to Trump and say "I want to vote for that guy". There are two parts of successful messaging: content and delivery. Trump succeeds at neither. He has no content, meaning he doesn't offer any alternative vision forward, he offers no solutions to anyone's problems (except perhaps his own). His delivery is terrible, as well. He stumbles and fumbles with a monotone voice through his speeches. How can anyone be enthusiastic at his rallies, even if one disregards what he's saying? And he finishes off his speeches with that horrible funeral/vigil music. Biden's speeches give me so much hope; Trump's speeches fills me with dread. And what is Trump's bizarre obsession or phobia of sharks about?

Notwithstanding Biden's disappointing showing on this particular evening, I have to disagree that fact checking isn't the 'moderator's job': On the contrary, journalistic ethics and integrity demand as much: Failing to acknowledge the fact of Trump's lies, much less hold him to account or push back in any way on the myriad falsehoods, or at the very least to follow up and insist that he answer the milk-toast questions that were actually asked, is tantamount to journalistic malpractice: So too was the network's failure to address crucial issues right from the outset and thereby establish some baseline pertinent FACTS Americans should be made aware of, which could have been accomplished with some pointed questions (i.e.Trump didn't win 2020, and the courts and audits established that the election wasn't 'stolen'; Trumps incitement of the Jan 6th insurrection; the fact that Trump was impeached twice and has since been indicted and convicted of additional crimes; that fact that Trump announced when running for office and subsequently affirmed during his presidency that he would (and did) deliberately appoint 3 radically conservative Justices to the Supreme Court who would overturn Roe v. Wade (as well as other rights), and that he also said he would sign a NATIONAL abortion ban; nor was he asked about the fact that most of his own former senior cabinet officials and own vice-president will not endorse him, etc). If CNN wants to continue to refer to itself as 'the most trusted' news source, the network should hold itself to higher journalistic standards, and actually provide fact-based reporting and content... otherwise it is doing its own journalists and the American public a grave disservice. Just to be clear, 'fact checking' could have occurred in any one of several different ways such as via a ticker-tape at the bottom of the screen, or a split screen fact page, or at least via the deconstruction and debunking of the blatantly and provably-false claims make by Trump immediately following the debate. Given what the media has learned the hard way about the perils of allowing the firehose of Trump's falsehoods to be broadcast live without impediment or context, this network has made yet another valuable contribution to the MAGA-Trump fuelled stochastic terrorism: In contrast, Nicole Wallace has dedicated a portion of every one of her shows to interrogating the complexities and nuances of how to ethically and responsibly cover Trump, and the dangers his barrage of uncontested falsehoods pose. Finally, I do believe that Trump may have also violated the new and more tailored parameters of his NY gag order live on air tonight... and also defamed E Jean yet again if I'm not mistaken.

I have a note on the production and editing of these clips: PLEASE for the love of peace - choose an natural end-point for the clip, (not ending in the middle of a sentence would be nice!), and create some kind of fade-in for the end-cap. Also in regards to the end-cap, be sure to have Luke in a studio or studio-like environment; having someone just POP UP at the end of the video, talking very informally from what appears to be a hallway just seems unprofessional. I agree. The only reason people even talk about it is that liberals love to take stupid right-wing talking points as gospel. I'm so tired of how whenever some crazy right-winger comes up with a conspiracy theory or something like that, everyone else begin to talk about it as if it has any merit. I've tried to reach people on both sides of the aisle who believe Biden is too old and demented, by asking them for evidence for their claim. If Biden is too old and demented, he should have trouble running the country for the last four years, right? How can he do the job if he can't do the job? It doesn't make sense. The ones I try to reach usually don't respond to my request for evidence, because they know as well as I do there is none. They have only bought into a talking point without questioning for themselves what's the basis for it is. Sadly, it's not just happening in the US. I see it quite often here in Sweden, as well. 10-15 years ago, right-wingers began to claim that with a large immigration comes bigger problems with integrating them into society, and therefore we need to lower immigration so the people who do immigrate can be integrated into society quicker. I have since tried to find any evidence for that in academia, but have come up short. No politician has ever tried to back it up with evidence, either. It has just been accepted as fact. Even politicians who favour a large immigration accepts it as truth, they just say that there are other considerations that weighs up for the worse integration. It's crazy to me how people so quickly assumes something is true just because someone says it's true.
