Truth being told ..niddrie has had its moments ..alot of problems in the area..but a hell of alot of nice people too..Scotland over all have had its problems..niddrie and Craigmillar have cleaned up now ..but like every place in the world theres always the ones that ruin it..❤..ill always love niddrie and Craigmillar with all the people who has passed away or moved or still live there..big love ❤ GH

It was a great place to live in the 70's!! Spent most of my time at the "venchie" playground. Friday night at the disco!!! But unfortunately it looks like a dump now!! 😢

It was a great place to grow up, plenty of open spaces, parks woods the NO road, Craigmiller castle, Arthur's seat, Sandy's boys club where I had a 3 minute lesson that boxing wasn't for me 3 minutes is a long time if you're getting your face punched in, no instructions, no defence, no going back. I grew up there in the 60's and 70's, everyone was a hippie till 1970 then "skinhead" started and the gang uniform was adopted by a lot of young lads and older ones, every scheme in Edinburgh had it's own gang with signs and tartan, I really wonder who came up with it all, but no one really seems to know. Ok up until you left school then any job you applied for with that postcode never got a reply. I moved up the toon and shared a room with 2 pals. I 1st worked at Dodge City , then many other jobs. I remember asking an older "gangster" before I went to secondary school if he had any advice, he said "never be ashamed of where you come from and always stand up for yourself" pretty good advice when I look back at it. It could be a wild place at times, but no one ever talked to the polis. The only thing I didn't understand was poor people robbing other poor people's houses. Packs of wild dogs roaming the streets and the cats wereny much better. All the places I stayed have been knocked down now. It wasn't all madness and violence, epic games of football, 10 years olds playing with guys in their 20's it's still going on and I can't see it ending soon. I'm glad I grew up there but I wouldn't want to live there now, but I still like hearing on the news in London on bonfire night "people are being advised to stay away from the area of Craigmillar and Niddrie" the usual rocket attacks on the polis. Good clean fun🤬👍🏻

Does anyone know why the grave at the end says 2001? I found that a bit odd however the video is great.

the grave is for a child dumped on that spot, the locals got it erected and named the new born Craig Miller after the area, its suspected the remains were left by people from a traveling fair who was in the area before hand then scarperd
