Niel Gow's Lament - Hammered Dulcimer - Ruth Smith

Ruth Smith's arrangement of a lament written by the great Scottish fiddler Niel Gow (1727-1807). The full title is "Niel Gow's Lament for the Death of His Second Wife." Ruth says "More than sorrow, this poignant aire honors his late second wife and companion of 30 years, and speaks of his great love for her." The studio recording of this lament by Ruth is available on Steve and Ruth Smith's CD "Dancin 'Cross the Strings" at www.steveandruth.com Ruth is playing a Jerry Read Smith 5 Octave hammered dulcimer with Sam Rizzetta carbon fiber shaft hammers with mole skin covering on the hammers.

Thanks! The HD is a Jerry Read Smith 5 Octave. Jerry's shop "Song of the Wood" is in Black Mountain, NC. The hammers are Sam Rizzetta carbon fiber shaft and I put "mole skin" on the hammering surface.
