Made even worse by the fact that I couldn't bear to kill Pascal and erased his memories instead, only to go back to the village and see him selling the body parts of his companions like it was nothing... He was literally the nicest, most endearing character in the entire game universe, and he got the rawest deal. That is a heaping helping of distant future nope. Gotdammit.

@@FlowerEmblem Even funnier fact: In Pensées (Thoughts), Pascal (The irl one, a mathematician and christian) argues that you should act as if God existed, because even if God doesn't exist, you'll have a limited loss. But if God does exist and you act as such, you'll get unlimited gains, but you'll face unlimited loss if you acted like it didn't exist in that very case. This part of Pensées is called "Pascal's Wager", and it's basically an argument based on fear, that you should be "good" to avoid an eternity in hell. Now see the relation... Pascal in the game used this line of thought while educating the robot children, he teached them fear to protect them, and that very fear ended up pushing them to commit suicide. This game doesn't just name characters for no reason. Those names also has a meaning within the plot and the message it's trying to convey, using the same thoughts of those thinkers and philosophers as both a complement of the plot, and to criticize those ideas

After wipe out Pascal's memories. I immediately revisit the village as soon as I got control on 9S. The scene is just so heartbroken. Corpses everywhere. On the ground is corpses of two robot sisters in a sidequest on route A (when the robot with pink ribbon got lost in desert), they're still hugging each other. And Pascal, idk how he managed to reach the village after A2 wipe his memory. But he's standing there, gathers cores and broken parts of his fellow and try to sell these to 9S. That shit hit me so hard tbh.

I think what got to me here was by the time I finished all the sidequests for the machine village as A2, they were calling her 'Big Sis'. I suppose she does give off an 'older sister' air about her. Which made it even worse when it ended up being wiped off the map. Welp, there go my feels.

It's nice that with the time A2 wanted actually to cooperate with Pascal, it was nice they were able to, really. However i didnt expected for this to end good, unfortunally i was right. ;-; tfw this Pascal quest was the most heartbreaking thing for me in this game T.T Also as the game goes i like A2 more and more, prolly will be my favourite character with Pascal there, still poor Pascal ;-; Edit: also when i listen to Pascal, i really think it's famele.

It was bad enough going through that entire fight, dreading the possibility that one might slip through. It was bad enough, hearing Pascal say "I'll kill you!" and wondering if he'd be the next to turn. It was bad enough knowing something horrible was going to happen because the perspective remained on Pascal... It was bad enough... lobotomizing him... blowing his memories out one by one... ...But while I'm sitting there, sobbing openly from it all... ...the thing that made me want to retch and brought my hands clamping onto my mouth... was his trading stock. Cestuses made of the heads of his family was dark... selling their butchered parts... ... ... ...seeing the children's cores on display, though... that was hell. That was torture. That fucking hurt in a way no game has ever hurt me. That was the moment I had to leave the village, save... and just fucking close the game.
