I think my favorite animation is when doing the second or third swing of one of the bigger swords, where she kicks her leg around to swing the sword forward in a big arc. So satisfying, as with most of the animations in the game really. Constant eye candy

Devil May Cry, Doom Eternal, Nioh 1 and 2, Shadow Warrior 3, Bayonetta 2, Breath of the wild, Super Mario World Bowsers Fury, Metroid Prime and Dread, Arkham Knight, Persona 5, Cuphead, Hollow Knight, Ghost of Tsushima, Red Dead Redemption 2 all of them are better for my taste, I even liked Final Fantasy XV more obviously not all the games are released on the last five years or I would have to put some Metal Gear, Ninja Gaiden, God of War, the Witcher 3, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy V etc but all of them are far superior and play better, Nier Automata has cool character design, well actually no, they do have B2 who is beautiful, they have original trademark aesthetics, amazing soundtrack and good ideas; in general story, interactions, tone, monotony, lack of variety, enemies, level design and others ruined it for me.

The animation quality is legit, but it's so goofy how the sword just teleports at 0:08. You can see it clearly if you slow the video down. A2 uses that combo as her "ultimate" in Nier Reincarnation and I haven't been able to tell how the sword moves the way it does after the first hit, but if the animation is taken directly from Automata, then, well, that would explain everything.

A simple fix might be to add yellow "glow" effect that indicate 2B teleport the sword purposefully up there instead of momentum throw which seem way too quick.

Only other one that comes to mind is the Last of Us 1, that game's dynamic combat with punches and melee weapon swings felt very real, as well as Joel throwing opponents against walls and pushing them over objects. They react just like they would if you smacked them over the skull with a bat. The guns were pretty real too, if you shoot an enemy in the legs/hip they buckle, if you shoot there arms/chest they stumble and fold over and if you make a headshot they just turn to dead weight. All look very realistic. Everything has weight to it. It's nowhere near as graceful or flashy, but that game had some awesome animation.

This game is rich in details in so many ways. It's literally the best game I've ever played in terms of animation quality and UI details such as when you use self destruct and the UI end up being affected as well. Also, the soundtrack transitions from 8-bit to bgm and bgm to the voiced versions are marvelous. Definetaly a mustplay masterpiece.

@@SBradison automata wasnt patched until 2021 when it came out for gamepass PC so you still experienced the unpatched mess. basically there were tons of performance issues spanning not being able to run native resuolution, lower quality textures and being hard locked to 60 fps ( plus major stutters during gameplay ). maybe you were just lucky and never saw these issues

Bruh, the intro theme of this game makes me wanna play it again, this game gave me so many feels lol. I just beat it January.
