I love how you’ve gotten into NieR covers, such a beautiful OST and a perfect match for your style.

Hell yes. Edit: Holy fucking shit. This is actually unbelievable. This whole thing is non-stop gold, but musically, I love how you did the section from 2:26 to 3:15. God this fucking rules, amazing job on this. And as always, Kaobnir's singing is on fire. Also oh my god I just restarted the song and forgot how insanely fucking good the intro is. Jesus, man.

Really unexpected harmonizations in this one. Was sad that the vocals seem to get stepped on by the synths even though in my head they should be so, so prominent, the shining star of the track, if I could change one thing it would be to bring the vox to the front-center more and have the synths occupying more of the wider field. All preference though, it's a solid track nonetheless. Quality work CS, always love your stuff!

This is actually really interesting, because there IS a very significant difference in the vocal mixing between this arrangement and the original. But I think one contributing factor to what you're hearing may be that in the original song, the vocal tracks are very separated in left and right channels. You have the main melody in the left ear and the harmony in the right ear, and the vocal tracks do not have much overlap in the center. This elevates both vocal tracks, especially since they are mixed at similar volumes and are forward in the mix. The vocals in the original are allowed to take up so much space because of how the instruments are mixed much narrower, focused more in the center and mixed to sit beneath the vocals. In order to accommodate more separation in the instrumentation in this arrangement, however, it sounds to my ear as though the vocals are mixed more in the center (though there is still a little separation if my hearing is correct). This means that both vocal tracks are sharing the center space more and the stereo separation in the instrumentation surrounds the vocals in this mix. At least with good headphones, I wouldn't say the vocals are being drowned out here (though they are mixed lower than in pop music for example), but the difference in how they are mixed spatially is definitely significant. So what I think you're hearing is not necessarily a need for the vocals to be even MORE centered; if the spatial mix of the original vocal track is what you have in mind, I would think the vocals might sound closer to the original if they were actually more separated, not less. But it is definitely worth noting how that might actually make them less prominent in the current mix, considering how wide the stereo field of the instrumentation is. Mixing the vocals on this arrangement seems pretty difficult to me, considering how much more detail there is in the instrumentation compared to the original. Considering how much more energetic this arrangement is instrumentally, I can see a desire to try to put the vocals and instrumentation on more equal footing in this mix than in the original. I definitely think there is validity in noting how the difference in the spatial mix affects how the vocals come across. Apologies for the giant wall of text, and I don't mean to disagree with your comment in any way. But your comment sparked my curiosity, so I went to go listen to the original and you're right that the vocal mixes are very different! Thanks for leaving your comment, it gave some interesting stuff to think about!
