Never played the original but seeing the original brother nier completely give up & lose it from losing his sister while the replicant is trying to save his own-while neither of them are even in the wrong is so sad. That ending hurt a lot man lol

The remaster.... Even tho the soundtracks disappointed me this part of Shadowlord's music still gotten me. Its truly sad especially with ending B. Just a dad who is the last resort to restore humanity back to its old glory form and most importantly to save her own daughter which all fades away as we the players totally screw over his plans. It was amazing to play through this game once again because i missed this a lot over the long long years. Drakengard 1+2 next?

Nier Father has such a much greater impact. I guess Nier Brother is an admirabke brother but speaking in realistic terms, only a Father or Mother would endure thousands of years in that situation. And suddenly losing their child despite all efforts.

That’s actually why the made Daddy Nier in the first place, in Japan the older sibling and younger sibling dynamic is the more common one while the parent child one is used more in the west.

The remaster sounds more elegant but less raw feelings put into it. I like both versions and music box remains the saddest conclusion of the Shadowlord story. Funny shit, you hear "Shadowlord" and think is going to be an edgy character but is truly in the end just a boy/dad that wanted to protect his sister/daughter and just misserably failed to do, but still has to fight the "hero" and if he falls, humanity is gone Like, i know it but cant comprehend all the sadness going on and get in blank

@@evep6886 In some Asian culture, in a big family the big brother should act as if they are the father of the house to take care of their younger siblings and be responsible for the whole family. Even if it means to give up their potential future (for example, in some families in poverty, the big brother of the house usually quit school and join workforce early, and save up money for his younger brother/sister). May be the West does not have that kind of culture, so I think that's why the original game had two versions. One for asian players, and one for western players. For people who understands the culture, brother Nier usually resonates more than father Nier, since the brother is technically a teenage boy but taking the role as the man of the house.
