I’m loving local. Get paid by the hour. I drive 4 hours a night, and sit in docks 4 hours a night (watching KZbin and movies lol), and get paid for every minute of it. I just shuttle trailers from one plant to another (20 minutes one way), 4 trips a night, and live unload/reload on both ends. I also work 2nd shift. So I get up whenever my body wakes up on its own (no alarm clocks), do whatever I want for about 6 hours of daylight, and then work my 8-10 hours in the evening and go back home.

So I'm glad to hear you enjoy what your doing and making these videos, I'd like to see videos of you driving to and from places if possible that would be great. As a former Greyhound guy seeking to switch to trucking, you nailed it. The driving part is easy, but when you realize that time is moving and how many family events you miss out on and all the pictures you are not in, it can wear on you. However, Im at a place where I now want the FULL adventure of the road. With the bus it was more structured and you ended up in a dorm or company sponsored hotel. So believe it or not, I think I want OTR.

@johnwaz56782 жыл бұрын
Im typing on behalf as my opinion as a company driver. I've never done otr. Local is great. You get your 2 days off but during the week your strapped for time. You sleep much less on local and depending on if your company likes you, you may get luckey with 11 hour on duty days throughout the week. I know a couple guys that make 100k plus with a company and they only use 50 to 55 hours a week maximum. And voluntarily work saturday for time and half on the 6th day at our company. With local, you wake up, freshen up, commute to work, start the day, you normally go to more urban/congested areas depending where you reside. You get off commute home, after your commute home, your at 14 maybe 15 hours. You go home kiss the wife and kids, shower, now you got 9 hours if your luckey, I have usually 6 hours of sleep after a local day and rush out to do it again. Local jobs pay much better per hour an use your time better for a higher hourly rate, regional or otr will be a higher w2 but that's because your always out running making 10 bucks an hour with a 100k w2 is certainly not good to me, Local jobs are more likely to pay a flat hourly rate which is incredible, some companies do overtime, so the stress you get from wasting time with fuel, customer delays isnt as prevalent. I think with a work/sleep/life balance. Regional wins. No local trucker works a 9 to 5 and if they do, they only make 40 to 50 k per year. In 5 years local, local is where I started, I made 85k and 90k a year in food service which is ball busting long hours. Now I got an easy local gig, 350 to 520 miles a day, I pull minimal freight off and get paid per pallet or rack to unload when I do and its 1.50 pay per pallet or rack i pull off, With this job I've made 93k, 95k, and last year was my 5th and i made 108k and i would have 10 hours left on my 70. So 108k for 60 hour weeks, isnt great but it's much better than otr, more bang per hour for my time. We werent put here to waste away in a truck, some guys love the lifestyle which is great but it's not for me

Thank you for this video! I am a 56 year old female who is single with a grown child doing her own thing. Regional sounds like the way to go for me.

I just got my cdl and out of trucking school & I have all these companies calling left and right. I'm happy I found this video because it helped me to relax a bit on which way I'm going to start off being a big loner with no kids or family or even a wife or a girlfriend & I'm one who wants to give up my apartment only because of this being the way that I am going to be saving for my own house so going otr is going to be it for me. Also we live once so getting out and seeing all 48 states is a blessing for me because I love to travel, drive and live care free all while making a great yearly salary...also when ever I bump into you I'm going to give it all I have to try to get a video date, you know Chinese food over a video call truck to truck jajaja because I'm attracted like 🤪

It’s mad inspirational to see a young lady do this. Just food for thought though… do the math on how much on duty/ drive time you use and how much you are getting paid, Divide your check by the hours and then tell me, what’s you prefer.

@@dsmotorsportgaming5756 go for it, Bro, shoot your shot, but only if you have good intentions. I can tell Niesha is top class and A1 quality wifey material. I would want her for my son if he had his life together and had only the best intentions...so hit her up and see if she's inerested. Good luck, Brother.

What about safety issues? How do you stay safe on the road?
@Dbb273 жыл бұрын
I’m making trips constantly from Florida to Michigan. I’m not a truck driver but have never felt threatened anywhere. Rest areas have been very safe. One tip she gave on another video was to use your seatbelts to secure your doors. I don’t travel at night.

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences. It had been very helpful. I'm trying to change field from retail to driving trucks and I'm trying to gathering information about this business as much as I can. I just found you and I like this video so far. I hope that you have make video about being safe out there. Where you have to park at night to sleep and shower. I did watch other videos about safety they're explaining that is risky for women being alone at night going to those showers places. I would like to hear your point of view about it. Thank you.
