I would position McGilchrist as cognitive science. While a lot of his work is grounded in neuroscience, and in that manner is reductive, he absolutely realizes that the language and paradigms of science are not adequate to describe both the potential and actuality of being. His embrace of more philosophical approaches to help fill the gaps and provide a broader scope is very insightful in this regard. Even some of the more neuroscientific portions are very insightful in that backdrop. However, reading his work is a labor simply because it's so voluminous.

Thanks for the insight. I definitely need to check out his work sometime, as I myself are coming from a neuroscience/neuroengineering background.

This is great. Nietzsche is born a Zen monk in his next life.
