I think such a comparison is uncalled for. Both have unique quality in their divine voice. It was the era where the singers had the opportunity to establish like this. Nowadays, there are even more talent we see in music competitions but they do not have such opportunity as Bollywood requirements are changed, public demand is changed , there is not place for such songs. I miss Bollywood films of 50's 60's70's and 80's! No social topics, no meaningful songs, no such linguistic high quality words and no such heart/soul touching compositions!

I claim that in Indian film music Asha Bhonsle is the only female singer who hs recorded most qawalis more than her cntemporary Lata. Lata hs just a couple of qawali in hr credit. Most popular qawali Lata sang is fr Mugale Azam "Teri mehfil me qismat", if u try to recall any othr Lata's qawali u hardly found any while Asha appears in every second qawali frm Na to carwan ki, nigahe naz k, pehchanta hu khoob, sharmake ye kyu sab, haseeno k jalwe, milte hi nazar tumse, jab ishq kahin ho jata h, nigahen milane ko, parda uthe salam hojye, chandi ka badan to raaz ki baat kehdu, hai agar dushman, pari ho aasmani tum, guroore husn ke sadqe and pal do pal ka you can recall a lot of Asha qawalis.

@@murtadah6327 You keep counting but numbers wld be lesser than the qawalies sang by Asha Bhonsle. Ashas voice was quite perfect for Mujra, qawali, cabret and for naughty numbers. Lata is no doubt a very good singer but Asha shll always bn remembered as a verstile singer
