POLLS are now open across Britain for the £150m EU elections we were promised Britain wouldn't take part in - with Labour and the Tories expected to face a Brexit wipe-out.
Nigel Farage's barnstorming Brexit Party and resurgent remainers the Liberal Democrats are set to top the polls, which will be open from 7am to 10pm today.
Theresa May had vowed to usher the UK out of the European Union by March 29 - but our departure date has been pushed forward to as late as October 31.
The latest polls before the polls opened show Theresa May's party on just seven per cent, while the Brexit Party soar ahead on 37 per cent, YouGov showed...

Oh they do care! Time will tell, history will be made. We will stand up, and be proud to call ourselves Great again. The EU calls us Britain.......we’re not Britain, we’re Great Britain! I served as a soldier, I’ve been to war, I’ve crossed the plains of Afghanistan, not to have to come back home to find that our “Open” boarders are the gateway for the enemy. The EU are afraid, they have not seen unity in Great Britain for decades, and it scares them. We have given up so much for the EU, helped so much around the world, not to be treated as a laughing stock by the EU. We’ve had enough, we want to leave.

WTO, not a problem. We’ve led the way for hundreds of years trading. Not quite as the last 40 years. caged up, bound by EU laws, custom unions. We can do so much better as a free, self governing nation. We will make our own laws, trade agreements. We have our very own commonwealth. We will branch out across the globe, while the EU is on a path of self destruction

@@lonewarrior6633 I guess, if you're only "Great Britain", that solves the Irish border question then, that'll help a lot to get a deal ;-) I've only seen disunity in the UK in the past 2-3 years, which has annoyed the EU more than anything, because there's no majority for any kind of outcome. And again, why should the EU care about MEP who are (allegedly) going to leave in a few months anyway?

@CBfrmcardiff
@CBfrmcardiff 5 жыл бұрын
@@andrewoliver8930 they argued that with a deal, Brexit would cause minimal disruption, and they demonstrated that it was in the EU's economic interest to give us a deal, which it is. The fact that the EU have chosen *not* to strike a deal (the only deal available involves all or part of the UK remaining within the Customs Union and SM) is not the fault of Leave supporters - particularly of those Leave supporters who have had nothing to do with negotiations. It's completely out of their power. It *does* have something to do with the UK opponents of Brexit, though. Some of them (Blair etc) have been speaking directly to EU officials, encouraging them to 'stand firm' against the UK government. Some of them (Lib Dems, Scot Nats, Plaid Cymru) have been campaigning to continue to remain in the EU, which has encouraged EU officials to think that this is possible and even to call for this (Donald Tusk). Some of them (the Labour Party) moved over time into a position of demanding membership of a Customs Union and Single Market, which must have encouraged the EU to think this option - Brexit in Name Only - would be generally acceptable in the UK. Some of them (Rudd, Hammond, Soubry, Grieve) have been Tory MP's or ministers publicly stating that the UK would never choose No Deal, which meant that the UK would accept any deal, which has incentivised EU negotiators to only offer a deal that would never get through Parliament. And when Teresa May presented her Bill to Parliament, Remainers didn't vote for it! Why not? Because the Lib Dems wanted to Remain and thought a crisis would inevitably lead to a second Referendum, and because Labour wanted the Withdrawal Agreement to specifically spell out BRINO, which it could not do as it was the WA and not the 'Trade Agreement'. The real reason, of course, was that Labour were hoping for a crisis to put them in government. So blame the EU decision makers for their decisions and choices, and the EU institution for its structures and processes. Blame Remainers if the EU settled on claiming that the only Deal possible was one unacceptable to any Leaver. Blame Remainers that Parliament refused to accept that Deal. Blame Leavers, if you like, for running a positive campaign, in which the EU was not discussed as an oppressive force, but only in positive terms as 'friends' and 'partners'. Blame Leavers for being optimistic. But don't blame them for lying about the possibility or practicality of a deal - they didn't. And don't forget to share blame elsewhere.

@@CBfrmcardiff Not described as an oppressive force. I thought my kids had to join it's army?
@CBfrmcardiff
@CBfrmcardiff 5 жыл бұрын
@@andrewoliver8930 Firstly, that was Farage who was not allowed to be within the mainstream Leave campaign. Secondly, that was in a debate with Nick Clegg a year or two before the Referendum. Thirdly, Conscription is not especially oppressive - at the turn of the millennium it was still the law in several European countries, as it still is in various places around the world. The Leave campaign decided to fight in 2016 from a position of positivity and optimism. The upside for Leave was that they couldn't be accused of being paranoid doom mongers. The downside was that they were subsequently accused of being motivated by the pursuit of non-existent unicorns.
