I've seen and heard many videos of lithium batteries exploding, or rather, bursting violently into flames. I've also seen a video of these pagers exploding. There is no comparison. The pagers clearly contained actual explosive. Furthermore, lithium batteries only catch fire when they are faulty, or the charger being used is faulty.
