The boss of NatWest, which owns Coutts, has admitted she made a 'serious error of judgement' when discussing Nigel Farage's bank accounts with the BBC.
Last week, Dame Alison Rose apologised to the former UKIP leader for the closure of his accounts and commissioned a review into the processes followed by Coutts.
ITV News understands that the prime minister and chancellor have both expressed their concerns over Dame Alison Rose remaining at NatWest in her capacity as CEO.
Following the apology, Mr Farage stated that "they should all go" in reference to NatWest CEO Dame Alison, Coutts CEO Peter Flavel and Group chairman Howard Davies.

A senior member of a bank divulging private customer information - makes you wonder how secure anyone's data is at Natwest - if staff can break DPA regulations and still be retained by a bank - unless they preemptively resign before being forced out. To suggest this was a 'lapse of judgement' - is laughable - it was almost certainly premeditated. Not to mention the employee not being legally charged for breaking DPA regulations. It seems the law in the UK doesn't apply equally to all - you can break the law as long as you have friends in high places. The BBC should also be held accountable for publishing illegal information!

@zerotwo8245 To say I disagree with Nigel Farage on some things means I hate the country is exactly the kind of political extremism that's the problem with many of the people that support him. You sound as extreme as the people that were trying to shut him up, the only difference is you're on his side politically. That's why it's better no one should be persecuted for their political views because people like you can think it's ok to do it to people like me because they think I hate the country for not agreeing with Nigel. You've proven the point of why people should be respected regardless of politics. You're no different in reality than those who were persecuting him for his views.

PEP - Politically exposed person. Let's talk Domestic PEPs. In financial regulation, a politically exposed person is one who has been entrusted with a prominent public function. A PEP generally presents a higher risk for potential involvement in bribery and corruption by virtue of their position and the influence they may hold. 1. Heads of state - Sunak's accounts are closed. 2. Senior politicians - cabinet and shadow cabinet lose their accounts 3. Senior government, judicial or military offices - again, cheque in the post. 4. Senior executives of state owned corporations. Rose loses hers, and lots of others 5. Government procurement at all levels. I'm thinking council officials. So if the banks want PEP's to lose their accounts, they must apply to all. The funny part, it doesn't look like Farage meets the criteria. The annex to the guidance sets out a collection of red flags and indicators for suspicion that can be used to assist in the detection of misuse of the financial systems by PEPs during a customer relationship. Examples of such red flags are the use of corporate vehicles to obscure ownership by PEPs, information being provided by the PEP being inconsistent with other publicly available information. So how many MP use limited companies?

What has happened to Mr Farage, or any other Bank customers in the UK is an extremely serious matter. It is clear Farage's account was closed because of his political views. That is frightening in a supposedly democratic Country. I live in a Commonwealth Country, and wonder if the same thing is going on here. I suspect if not, it will not be too soon before there is a real possibility this could happen. We appear to share a number of Banking laws (etc) in common with the UK, and like in the UK, it is getting harder, and harder to find an actual Bank in this or that area. People, across the Globe, are being herded into the digitisation of currency, we virtually pay for everything online, and we do that via online banking, or via some electronic device our Bank uses to accomplish a financial transaction, most, if not all transactions become impossible if, for whatever reason, other than illegal activity, we have been de-Banked. The fact that Banks do not even have to explain the 'why' a person has been de-banked can no longer be tolerated. Bank's must be forced via legislation to respond and give a clear, evidence based reason as to why their Bank has made a decision to de-bank them no matter what or how many accounts they hold with that Bank! This Scandal is erupting all over the Western World. People everywhere, not just the UK, appear to recognise just how very serious, and dangerous such behaviour, as carried out by NatWest (UK), and other Banks in Kingdom in respect to Nigel Farage, and now the number of people now appearing on different news media shows in the UK is. It must be addressed appropriately, and that can only be done by ensuring laws are put in place that prohibit people, whatever their personal opinion(s), or views are on any given political subject cannot be de-Bank because of those opinions or views. To offer any other solution to this outrage, is to do nothing, and opens the door fully to a form of tyranny, that has, because of Dame Rose (and the NatWest Board of Directors, and others) actions, gained a toe-hole that is not in keeping with the traditions and norms of a free society, and Country! In one sense we have to be grateful that it was Mr Farage who was de-Banked, name recognition, not to mention his rightful disgust and decision to allow his financial situation, as far as Banking is concerned to be published for all the World to see. I'm glad, not just for the UK, but for the rest of the World's Democracies that he is going head-to-head with the Banks on this matter, it is to all of our advantage that Mr Farage do so! He was asked if he had, or would seek compensation for what was done to him, he was unable to give a clear answer at this time. I would hope that he does seek financial compensation, and I would hope now that this scandal has erupted and that more and more de-Banked people step forward that they too seek financial compensation. One thing Banks do understand, a drop in revenue or profit for whatever reason! But, finally, Banking laws must be addressed, changed, to ensure there is no possibility that this happens again, and that it is legislatively made clear to Banks that every law-abiding citizen has a human right to a Bank Account, and therefore, cannot be refused one (or more), unless there is proven evidence that a particular account is being used for nefarious reasons, and there must be a system in place to appeal any decision to de-Bank! Personally, I am against a cashless society, it, as has now been proven, too easy to switch someone out of existence, be it political, or wrong 'think' related to any issue! My apologies for the length of this, but, this is one of those times when a few lines just cannot cover the topic adequately, I cannot express how horrified I am by what happened to Mr Farage, the fact they went after him should make all of us less notable people, which is most of us, very concerned indeed, and demand immediate action and change!

This is great news for me. I had a problem with my bank when they stopped my debit card when I visted the USA from the U.K. Can I get that on National TV? Probably just a few days of coverage would do it I'm sure.

Sack her..never mind her “Bonus” get rid! Mistake? Come on! Their job is to serve their customers not to look into their personal politics! Banks are becoming all powerful! They hold the monopoly as there are so few banks they close ranks on any murmur of even the possibility of the emergence of a new bank! Just do your job and stick with accounts!
