Labour have utterly botched roadworks in the UK's core cities, somehow doubling congestion despite fewer vehicles on the road due to hybrid working. They are wasting billions on absurd cycle lanes, £5 million per mile, while slashing the capacity of motor vehicle lanes. Hardly anyone uses these cycle lanes, there is simply no demand to justify the cost and upheaval they create. Moreover, we should not be encouraging people onto what is, by far, the most dangerous form of transport. This is not Vietnam, and we should not be turning our roads into its likeness.

Lets look at the UK over the last 30 years, it has only declined. Compare it to more successful economies 30 years ago, UK average salary was $40,000 the same as Singapore, today Singapore is $130,000, its similar in Australia, Canada and the USA. Something is drastically wrong with our Country and we need a new direction and new standard of Politician, we should not be prepared to put up with terminal decline ! IR35 was the final nail as a 60 year old business owner in the contract project management field. There was no point anymore. I consolidated all my pensions and investments and closed down. That could have been a load of corporation tax to add to the coffers for a few more years. Stuff 'em.

Why should someone working effectively as an employee, be able to avoid paying the 40-45% tax that everyone else does?
@ashb80682 ай бұрын
@@mitchyf21people think so one dimensionally. Yes, contractors pay less TAX but take on more risk and may end up earning less even with lower TAX due to lack of contracts. Businesses suffer as a result as short term projects, mergers, business change is contractor dominated. Contractor rates then go up (mine has gone up by 30%) due to lower number of contractors in the market now, which means companies expenses go up which is offset in the TAX these companies pay. So overall you may or may not be collecting more TAX from these contractor work if you look at the full picture.
@EA-hr9di2 ай бұрын
A contractor also doesn't get paid leave, paid sickness leave, no pension contributions from employer, can be terminated without long term notice, they're usually the first to be let go of, are usually hired to do jobs that are difficult to recruit to. Can usually not sue company if maltreated as they're not "employees". There are a lot benefits contractors miss out on.

As Bill Bryson said in his ‘Notes from a Small Island’ - the thing about communism is that in Britain it would have worked. What he meant by that was that we have low expectations of success, we try and keep down those that do well or aspire to do well and we are receptive and gullible to envy politics. Any chance to tax the rich or strip the rich and we back it, unknowingly shooting ourselves in the foot. And as we have indoctrinated more than a generation now on communism and hard socialism while twisting out of proportion any problems to do with capitalism we now have the Labour government that we do, following on from an almost equally socialist Conservative government before. We have no choice but to unleash the full folly of socialism on the UK as it gobbles up farmland and seeks to control every aspect of lives, even our thoughts and opinions in order to wake up the woke zombies

Top rate isn't 40%. It's like 60% between 100-150

No but if there are no Liebor councillors it will send a big message to two tier Quier and Liebor might have the guts to ditch their stupid leader

We're stuck with the policy, effectively they're trying to sink the economy for their leftist revolution. The repercussions will last 10-50 years if not be completely permanent.

He makes some interesting points and there's probably a lot of truth in what he says , but surely most SMEs have found it harder since Brexit with complications and increased costs with exports, farmers in particular have definitely been negatively impacted. And What does he mean with Non Doms pay their taxes in the UK?? No they don't, that's the whole problem with them! (?)

Only an est. 10% of SMEs export physical goods. The rest are all services-based business or have their goods fulfilment done offshore, like much of the EU incidentally. So no, "surely most SMEs have found it harder since Brexit" isn't true. And besides, the UK has not properly left the EU in any case. Same EU law, tax regimes still aligned, same trading partners. It's ironically because of that the SMEs are finding it harder. As one thing, corporation tax should be hugely reduced and NOT still aligned with the EU. Ditto VAT, which COULD be reduced now the UK has "left" the EU, but is still aligned with the EU. Then there is income and dividend tax, which should be incetivised for business owners, but guess what? Still aligned with the EU! Non-doms pay a flat rate of tax. The EU has similar programs such as Italy, where the non-dom flat rate of tax is 200,000 euros.

Most SMEs didn't notice Brexit as they don't export. We do notice the total incompetence of our government though.

Trouble is that voter put them there and it will have to be the electorate who clear the sewer blockage in Downing St.

We will have to limp along going broke for a few years before these fools are voted out again sadly it could take a generation to put what’s left back together

How much of that tax goes to the royals 😮💨
@zoeen56502 ай бұрын
It doesn't matter. The government decides how much they get. How much goes on their expenses and second homes? How much goes on civil service wage increases and pensions for them to do a worse and worse job. How much goes to Ukraine? How much to Africa? The government decides.

For the employee you're taxed 4 times . Nic's, PAYE, VAT on everything and pension contributions. 😅 For self employed YOU PAY the same (if you're honest) minus pension contributions. For LTDs you have higher rates of corporation tax, employers NICs and dividend taxes then Capital gains tax. It's actually too much 😂 We left the EU just to because more business savvy with labour in charge were going back to the dark ages i tell ya.
