@dinismantas7265 Жыл бұрын
Not sure that will work either. If a significant number of people removed their money from banks, at best, you may have a collapse of some financial institutions and guess who would be paying that? Yep, we know how all that went not so long ago. The financial markets are still controlled by the big corporations, the governments and the supra-governmental institutions. On top of that they can be volatile and a bit to risky for the average person. I don't know how to solve this problem, but I suspect that people should start implementing some "redundant systems" into their lives and that may include the ability to survive outside the system. If you have enough money, maybe buy property outside the big cities, in smaller communities. Maybe have some local economy going on with some sort of exchange system. Grow a good portion of your own food. Maybe learn new skills that could be seen as valuable in that scenario. All this while maintaining a limited funds bank account (as long as possible) and, yes, some additional investments. Not sure about any of this, but all my life I always had a bit of a 6th sense for potential trouble and I am starting to have that "low intensity alarm" feeling.

@jasonmussett2129 To my amazement, I really believed that when we emerged from Covid, people would be easier to get along with. Not high prices and tradesmen being difficult and often ripping off. So I've been paying cash for many taxi fares to hospital and only after a quick check did I find I was paying almost double. Tradesmen don't want my trade for smaller jobs when thousands are charged for others. So I've had to tackle a few myself whilst recovering. Those who do help charge cash upfront which is understandable considering cost of living. Ukraine war is not responsible for all of this. I'm not a financial bod but do realise certain sectors have been given free rein. As an older lady, I like bills paid promptly so often cash is needed for workmen to fetch materials from builders and pay cash....my cash rather than my card. And it certainly looks as if this will continue. A family member fetching groceries...cash. cafes...cash. household repairs and plumbers materials....cash. painters/decorators or tips to genuine helpers at my age...cash and the list goes on. Parking ticket machines.....£5 or £10 for refuse to be taken to tip if too incapacitated myself. ....I am at moment. There must be thousands more in similar position. Elderly have already been bullied and made to feel inferior cos don't like using computers/tablets etc. Poor vision with me deterred me. But we have been made to. We don't all have families to rescue my friends. So bullying isn't going to wash with me. There are fewer of us now we have been culled by Covid. Let us get by with a dual system. In peace. Following 4 years of negations the EU and New Zealand have signed a trade deal, but not only that, the former British colony will join the European Horizon science program which Rishi Sunak has u-turned on. NZ and the EU have agreed to put Net Zero at the centre of their deal and to share data which will help both.

Interesting what Nigel said about Post Offices being privatised. In my town, most of the banks have shut their branches, (only one left). Therefore, people have started using the Post Office to withdraw cash. Guess what? Post Office suddenly closing at the end of the month. Reason - it was being used as an ATM. Well, of course it was!
@kellysouter4381 Жыл бұрын
My local post office told me I could withdraw money there, the second time I tried to they were "offline" and phoney smiles of sympathy when I said I'd have a half hours drive ahead of me to get to a bank. My local shops used to have two ATM s but one end of the mall has been blocked off all year for "retiling ". No work is being done though.

Similar in NZ. Banks in small towns are now shut, the Post Office is now private and operates out of a few old PO buildings (I think?) in large cities, the rest are now agencies in the back of shops etc. Mail delivery is 3x a week in cities and as slow as snails. Cheques are no longer processed. They said NZ would be the first cashless country in the world, in the 1960's. They are still trying...

What really is needed is the people of Britain declaring war on the banks. When the banks are no more, you can found new banks that actually do their job, rather than oppress and persecute the people.

Shops in our area have already put up signs stating "Sorry - Cash only". That's where we will spend our hard earned cash. Some of our elderly neighbours do not understand anything but Cash. They dont use cards and still write cheques for the larger bills. There will be riots from the elderly, I hope many get involved as possible. Have signed the petition.

You should read Ron Chernow's book " the house of morgan" it explains how American banks created the debt society by insisting all wages should be paid directly into banks rather than in cash to employees. They knew customers would become overdrawn and would overspend and take loans. The U.K. brought it in in the 80's and created our debt society. Fairly certain he wrote that banks also wanted a cashless society. The book was written decades ago

In this video, Nigel Farage speaks a lot of sense. it is indeed truly sinister that the faceless powers that be can work to deny someone a bank account. It is truly Orwellian, of a fascist kind and those responsible should be identified, named and shamed. JRM is right though the fact that people now feel a law is required to ensure everyone has a right to a bank account and that they should not be treated unfairly because of the supposed values of the institution is a sad and worrying indictment on society,
