As a South African, I think the Nigerian coach should be given a chance considering that was his 1st match and had to assemble a good squad within a short period of time. Credit to his wisdom by motivating his players in the 2nd half by instilling a sense of urgency and composure which brought in a goal. To our coach, I think he should rest Percy Tau. There are better players on the bench like Rebelogile that can make a difference in penetrating the defence. Mabasa or Mayo are also good finishers.

@@arohaodufu7998Tau messed chances which were crucial but we should not use emotions and overlook the aspects of his game which gave problems to Nigeria in the first half. He did well by subbing him second half which was however late but Bafana played well let's not bash the players because our favourites did no play. Only eleven can play at a time

We can still qualify from our group depending how we approach our remaining matches. Our group is still very much open. Any team in the group can still finish top and win the group even the bottom team. What we need to do is to be very serious with our remaining matches as expected. My advice for the players is to be serious while on training. They should not be using their mobile phones while on training to avoid distractions. The coah should make substitution early enough when he discover a player is not pushing well enough to help the team. I think we can still top the group at the end of the qualifiers if only we play to our potentials in our remaining matches. Good luck to the team.

The team played good attacking football but we need to improve defensively from the first whistle. Bright Osayi Samuel plays more like a midfielder than a defender. We were lucky not to concede more goals. Our goalscorer Fisayo needs to contribute more defensively. He should emulate Lookman. Himself and Paul Onuachu did not defend enough. Paul made the effort, it's just that he is so tall. He cannot run around as much as Osimhen. All in all, we played well but we need to be more tactical against Benin.

It's the quality of the players. I believe we have better players than these ones. These guys couldn't hold the ball for long. It's only Lukman that's a bit confident on the ball others were not. As Finidi said, they were sloppy in the first half. To be honest with you, South Africa was infinitely faster and accurate in passes more than us. It's still the same thing we had at AFCON. We these caliber of players and football, even if we qualify for the WC, we won't go far.

Coachie talked really well. But he knows the Nigerian press-They won't let him off 'cos they will keep asking those undermining questions. He is the one to manage them as best as he can. NB: I hope Semi Ajayi recovers in time. Two of our most consistent players (Osimhen & Simon) are already out. Can we afford to have Ajayi out again?

A quality team good players, actually world class players, no plan no proper routine, the issues that individual players have on the pitch are not been taught of. There's work to be done in the right side of the defence and again . I don't know why Tao wasn't being checked during that match . In the first half , the defence and midfield was kind of sloppy . The second half, they picked up . All the same I'm hoping for them to go all the way and sin against Benin who have been impressive esp when they played the last two AFCON or is it the AFCON in Egypt . There's no minow in football any longer. The officiating was terrible . Why did CAF not use the VAR. I believe that attack on Bashiru was a penalty and also that player ought to have been red carded. Then the shot by chukwueze , one didnt know whether it went through the line or not. . CAF should bring in the VAR for the qualifiers .

Dont u think he would have won the match if they were available?? Best defence in AFCON?? @@macgrawmarky9654 the problem is not even the quality of the players at least one of our player is ranked second most expensive player to purchase in the world, it's the understanding between the quality players on how they want to break down a defence, when was the last time nigeria scored a early goal within 1 to 15 min, yekini scored our first goal in the world cup within that time and it use to happen frequently because they had an understanding. olise, amunike, amokachi and finidi himself new where yekini will be and how to give him the ball, it's not about being good it's more than that just don't jog in training explain to each other movements create movement plan, cohesion

Its unfortunate that we are using qualifiers to test run the team..to me ,if you use this team early enough for warm up games, it would given them the attacking rythm we all crave for.Right now that bite and forcefulness is on the average.you get that right with warm up games using consistent squard.

That statement about draughts was spot on!Spectators always see all the moves! I like Finidi with his humour but please drop Onuachu and Iheanacho to the bench!I have been one of those advocating for more game time for both but now I understand why they are on the bench! Onuachu, KC, and Ndidi himself have no business starting. They are either ineffective, or lack the spark. You all saw how a more fired new face Bashiru was everywhere doing everything to prove himself. Same in striker position, there's no reason to not start strikers who are begging for opportunity to prove themselves especially at a time Osimen is absent. This is the chance for the likes of Moffi, Boniface who are eager to prove themselves be allowed to either start or place 60min. Ndidi should give space for more fired up midfielders to play. We all saw how the like of Onyeka, Onyedika fought running battles in the midfield during afcon. It shouldn't be about age and all, how fired up a player can be is important. People are not taking about how Iwobi stepped up his game in the second half, he was involved in almost all our attacking moves and goal attempts and all, not excusing the chance he missed. The coach should play him in such free role often as long as there are strong defensive players behind him. Finally, if you choose to play attacking football that often leaves our midfield and defence open, it's best to have Bassey in defensive midfield role than the defense, so he breakup their play .. we say how this worked out during the afcon, Alhassan's work rate is must to start in such situation too. such work horses provide better cover for the team if you choose an attacking style

We should understand this very point or do I say we should always remind ourselves that football is not about names but critically understanding that some days could be bad for players, I think we don't have control over that, I noticed three south African prayers that were not functional and the coach allowed them, so, in as much as we want to criticize, please let's be very constructive and pray that our players find form as fast as they can. To me a knock on a player near heap should be a redcard offense except the victim was runner-in.So making a case that Paul was given 80mns should not be echo so that other players don't get demoralized, I know we wanted see a victor that we missed during afcon give account of himself.

I believe Lukmam was playing big-man football. He didn't feel the urgency of the game, especially, in counter-attack situations. Chukwueze should start the next game, because of his ability to run on the opponent's defense that unsettles them. Good luck!

Lukman was shadowed/tailed by 2 and at times 3 players. That should have created chances for other players but they didn't utilize the chances, unfortunately.

A draw is not good enough put us on edge of not qualifying .More so the players were not hungry for goals from the blast of whistle compare to south Africa side hence they got the first goal.If it was super eagle that got that goal we would have won the game.

I am disappointed he benched Moffi during the first half and Boniface in both halves while Iwobi , Iheanacho and Onuachu played for too long or even full time. Boniface dey for his home state and the fans would have thrilled to see him play. Lookman would not quietly assist other players to score he shoots instead of passing to a teammate.
