Thankyou for this most instructive video. I hope Badagry becomes central to the movement seeking reparation for the victims of slavery. It should be borne in mind that a great deal of the treasures accumulated by the British royal family and other European aristocracies is based on the profits from African slavery. This should be redistributed to communities in Africa and American particularly to improve life and education.

You are welcome. I hope that through these stories we will see our past who we were, what we went through and acknowledge that we are still remain standing. We need to own our stories, define our future, learn from the mistakes of the past.

@@Liesel81-across-all-borders Thankyou for our reply. I have long felt there should be major reparation from the European and American countries who profited from slavery. The vast wealth of many European 'aristocratic' families derives largely from slavery. I wonder how their consciences sit surrounded by art works worth hundreds of millions bought by inhumanity. There should be a pan Atlantic campaign focused on Nigeria and its neighbours to redistribute this wealth to where it is needed.

if badagry was a major departure port, i have a hard time believing only 10k enslaved people passed through.
@Liesel81-across-all-borders3 жыл бұрын
Good point the question is two folds what other ports was Badagry being compared to and was it really only 10,000 in which case feel free to dig into it. Thanks for watching

@@Liesel81-across-all-borders i read something that said 500k passed through badagry which is more likely given its importance. this area was a major hub of transatlantic slave trade. more than 10 million were traded. the local chiefs, etc made sure this was big business.

Evil against thy own brothers.what a shameful act of our wicked ancestors.i am glade they held on to Yoruba isese along with them,or there own traditions and religion,mind there was no Nigeria then,the Yoruba translated version of bible,need to be corrected

Hmm it's not just ancestors. I think we still sell ourselves out every opportunity that presents itself. When greed is creed then things will remain unchanged. So as it is until we have people who really wish to serve their nations we will continue to be sold out for the next best thing on the market
