My fully Nigerian parents rarely beat us and I won't call it a gentle parenting thing. I feel like them being genuine Christians heavily influenced the way they brought us up, they were consistent in their kindness, respectfulness and generosity to everyone. Down to the way we spoke to each other, using words like "stupid" or "fool" wasn't even in our vocabulary. Now that we are all grown-grown you'd never hear any of us call someone "foolish" or "idiot" or anything similar, not even as a joke.

Lucky you!!! My mom would beat the living daylight out of me and quote bible verse " He who thou lovest, thou chastiseth" Would never forget this one. Or is it the "spare the rod and spoil the child" one? Leemfaoo! Lucky you.

My mum would still be in jail if we were raised abroad. Now she lives with my sister's family in America and we remind her everyday that she dares not do same to her grandkids else na prison. I did ask her for an apology a few years back. She started out arguing but after I broke it down, she calmed down and apologised

Grateful that we know better now and can make informed choices to intentionally parent our children. Correcting a child in anger is always reactionary and rarely effective.

The problem is our parent used to pour out their frustrations and stress on us through beating..... smacking is not wrong, but not using frustration and anger to hit children in the name of beating....it damages children......and it is abusive

I would say the lady who had the abortion should have a deep talk with her man, it just might be in her head, and even if it is not, they can see a therapist together. It would help if she unburdens all FIRST before God and asks for his forgiveness and clarity, before having the conversation with her man. Darling, if you are reading this, GOD LOVES YOU, regardless. Leverage that, babygirl!

I've been beaten o but the one my older brother got put the fear of God in me. Ahhh nooo, I have stories. One episode was the PES 2 one when baba left home to go and play game and didn't come back till late. Everyone was worried and we were already talking going to police. When he arrived, my mama gave him ass whooping. At the end, there was a swollen part of his head and pepper in his eyes. An example that was. Naaaaaa

The last wedding I attended, I was in the bridal party and the waiter on his own accord, started on the table behind me and started building from there. Ah egbami, when he passed like the fourth time, I pulled baba ‘how far’ and he goes ‘I thought you people weren't settled’ on who's assumption dear? Please serve us😂😂😂😂😂😂. I will redirect service with queen’s English and a smiling face. Don't do that

I just finished listening to the full podcast, and I decided to come over here to give my own unsolicited opinion. You two are looking gorgeous as always ❤️. When it comes to what some of our parents did to us in the name of punishment, some of it are heart breaking. I remember a friend who's father use to teargas them in the name of punishment. 😭😭 I know a guy who's mother would lock them outside and refuse to feed them that night, whenever the misbehave. The stories are crazy. Secondly, about Jonah Hill's drama. I believe FK and Jola's analysis about him and his ex girlfriend Sarah Brady, was a bit hypocritical. I remember 2 weeks ago in SE05 EP19, during the Agony Aunts section. There was a message about a lady who is dating a guy that has a different lifestyle and beliefs from her, and she talked about trying to change him. Which is similar to Jonah Hill's and his ex girlfriend. During that section you two didn't consider her actions as controlling, FK also talked about how she changed the dressing of a guy she was with. But I'm sure if the table was turned, and a guy was trying to change FK's dressing, or lifestyle he would have being called controlling, especially if you didn't like the idea. And there's nothing wrong with someone setting boundaries in there relationship. If the person they are with don't like the boundaries, they are free to leave, which is what Jonah Hill's ex girlfriend did. And that's ok. I saw some screenshots of their messages, and I don't see anything wrong with his demands, in the ones that I saw. And no one, except the two of them, knows the events and full story of what happened in that relationship, which lead to him sending those messages. Also I don't know for you guys, but I find it weird, that Jonah Hill's ex girlfriend decided to share a screenshot of messages before their break-up in 2021, right now in 2023 after he just had a baby with his new girlfriend. About his S.A accusations, if it's true, let him be punished severely for it. Jola's is right on how it's not good to meet someone living a certain lifestyle, and then alone the way you start trying to change them, because you don't like that lifestyle. It's better to date or marry someone who share the same ideology and lifestyle with you, than dating or marrying someone who's different and then trying to change them. I also believe people can change, but let them change on their own terms. Fk and Jola's childhood stories are hilarious 😂😂.

The abortion dilemma.. you don’t need to talk to anyone. Just your man if you choose to and God to Ask for forgiveness. With time, you’d be fine. Sometimes telling people things doubles the burden on you.
