I’m American and very white but I ALWAYS do my makeup like the Nigerian side. I have a really round face and my eyes are sort of close together, so the really defined and snatched look is more attractive to me. I blow my eyeshadow all the way out to my ears sometimes and drag highlighter up to my forehead. I seriously snatch myself and look like a totally different person. I’m really proud when I do it well. I don’t wear makeup much anymore because effort and I tend to prioritize sleep, BUT when I do wear makeup it’s never light or natural. I want people to be able to see and tell what I did to my face because that’s my art and my expression. I’m not trying to be subtle or incognito.

yes, I know what you mean about their makeup, as I've watch Nigerian program on Netflix and wow. I have to say, there is so much time on our faces now, and in about 10 yrs, you will look back and probably snicker. It has gotten to the point where I am now wishing I was black, and pretty just so I could wear this much makeup and looking stunning like jackie

This was beautiful! I love both sides except the lashes on the Nigerian side. I'm biased just like Jackie but it's with Black Americans. It makes me happy to see them achieving and striving for excellence. 🇺🇲

Southern mua culture is never being able to get dewy foundations since after a minute in the sun, you become a pool of oil
