We have to celebrate every African woman who mounts the courage to divorce. People pointing fingers at this lady who cheated on her husband. As a liberated African woman, the truth is if this lady had divorced her husband, women will crucify her, mocked her, the church will make her feel so bad, do everything possibly for her to leave the church, her Nigerian society will neglect her and mock her. Why your think 40% of children born in Nigerian marriages are not for the legal husband? A Nigerian woman leaving a bad marriage will be mocked, discriminated against , landlords will not rent to her, her children could be taken from her.She will leave empty handed, so she rather stay and cheat than to divorce. Liberian women can do the same thing too to judge women leaving bad marriages but they don’t care. They still leave , they know their situation and pain .

My sister!!!!! You have written all what I have been experiencing! I'm in the process of divorcing my husband after 20 years of severe ill treatment from my husband which nearly took my life on 3 occasions but when I took up the courage to leave to survive, you need to see the actions that I experienced from my black Nigerian community. The closed friends and family distance themselves from me. They called me all sorts of bad names you can think of despite me being the sole provider, protector and builder of our home but when God said going! Alleuia! I listen led and I'm on my way out of the marriage. I know that God will help me throughout the journey of recovery! I have been educating my children against marrying from the black community so that they won't experience what I experience and so shall it be in Jesus precious name amen!
