I've been shooting for over 40 years. From High School Photography Editor, home bathroom darkroom developer, to an almost 60 year old enthusiast with millions of exposures under his belt. You're BRILLIANT, inspirational, and artistically talented beyond what can be taught. I just purchased an M10 Monochrom and I'm glued to the screen trying to learn your techniques and copy your camera settings. Love your content and sense of humor. You keep it fun and interesting. Thank You for sharing your escapades.

My reactions-I don’t have a 1.4 lens, just a 2.0 lens, and even worse, crop sensor, so I just have to make do. But it’s a 50mm equivalent, not 24 mm like yours. Different style, different preference. You said 125 shutter speed, but then I noticed you varied your shutter speed considerably as you went along. (Needless to say, I was shocked!) I go slower than that often, like 100 or 80, and it’s ok. When there are no people, I take advantage of the camera’s ibis and go really slow. At night I am in shutter priority because the camera will go to the widest aperture automatically, and I can change the shutter speed quickly that way. I agree with you about a 6400 maximum iso, but then I noticed that you flagrantly violated that guideline as well! Nevertheless I struggled on to the end of the video! I put the iso in a range with 6400 maximum, so often the camera will go below that. The point about exposure compensation was well taken, because I often forget about that. But I usually don’t go below minus 1. I also agree about Hong Kong for night photography based on the one time I went there. I live in Hanoi, which I think is also great for night photography; it’s full of street life, street markets, sidewalk cafes, etc. I try not to hang out in cemeteries at night. It can be depressing!
@leighd4908 Жыл бұрын
ISO 20000 and 1/4000 shutter!! 🤪 I’m so glad someone as practiced as Alan Schaller also does this from time to time. I’ll feel that much better the next time I do it. Thanks for keeping it real.
