Thank you for posting... my dad worked for SP at this very yard in the 80s

Thank you for your comment - that's awesome, I wonder if I got any video or photos that showed him working? Anyway, it was an awesome place and time to record these classic scenes, little did we know...

The SP in LA was noisy, dirty, loud and…everywhere. I loved it.

That was one of the things that attracted me to the SP from when I was a little kid - the sheer power and dirt that showed this was a hard-working mountain railroad. Thank you for your comment and for taking the time to watch

I love watching your night videos of SP. I wish I was alive to see SP in action before the merger.

Hey...it's the 2474! That was the day I was born 2-4-74. Nice to see that unit in action.

Such amazing scenes. I do love the chatter of those little switchers. It's such a shame that railroading isn't quite as interesting today as it was back then. I am curious though, do you have any footage from the old Colton Crossing? If so, I know I'm not the only one who'd love to see it.

I'm still going through my videos, if I do I will be sure to post it. Honestly though, at the time I was more interested in hanging out at scenic spots but if I had it to do all over again I would have budgeted more time for Colton crossing, Pepper Avenue, and the Ice Deck...

The GP9s were classic engines for sure, and the sound of them throttling up through transition was something to experience
