Salem on Halloween truely looks like an experience onto its self. Amazing.

My daughter and I had our yearly trip a few years ago to Salem for Halloween! We stayed a week and had a blast…tons of history, very colorful people, great food, shopping and of course haunted graveyards and homes! A MUST trip especially in October.

My niece went there once and visited the Witch House (shown starting at: 03:09) and she took a few photos with her film camera of it from outside. When she got them developed, one of them had a beam of light as bright as a laser, coming from the sky directly into the window in the upper right. I've had years of experience taking photos and it wasn't any kind of reflected sunlight or anything...strangest thing I've ever seen on film.

If you're thinking of visiting Salem for the novelty of the famed witch trials, and you genuinely want to know/learn about the victims and the banal reality of the events, don't visit during high season/Halloween. Sure - it's super fun to see a bunch of people walk around you with clear spooky intentions, looking to savor the celebrations of it all, but it's way more meaningful visiting in a time you aren't having to sift through crowds. There's so much history there. Real people were killed because a few young girls were chaotic in their demeanors for a time period, and some selfish and egotistical parishoners deemed it necessary to cause further strife for the weary population in order to save their names. People suffered, lives were taken; it's more than a bunch of jack o lanterns and witchy drapery and creepy organ music. I lived there during college, and revisted ten years later, both during the 'spooky' time but removed enough that I didn't have to combat crowds. If you're truly invested in this historical event, go when you can take the time to appreciate fully what tour givers tell you. That's ultimately the form of respect these victims deserve....not some makes or makeup-ed renegade with a penchant for hopping over graves to get a good pic.

I’ve never understood this “celebration” of executing innocent people . It’s not” fun” ….it’s sad. Your sentiment about being respectful enough to find out the full story & real history of a place rather than an edited version that fits a theme at a certain time of year is so on point. The Salem witch trails took place between February and May & had nothing to do with Halloween. ….but then Halloween isn’t even about Halloween anymore.

It seems like a neat place to go. Im totally down for it one October, but spirit just told me as I was watching this that this is a ton of capitalism based on such and awful time in history. These woman and man that were executed probably only worked with herbs for healing and well being among other simple benevolent rituals if they even did anything at all. A total sadness came over me watching this and I was hyped to check it out. Now I feel like Im mourning death. Has anyone else experienced this just checking out the area like this video is showing. I cant be the only intuitive person that has picked up on this about the town.
@MsTinkerbelle872 жыл бұрын
Yes, all the time. It’s like they are celebrating their deaths not mourning. I went there all the time when I was younger, it was a whole different energy. Less crowded, you weren’t banned from wearing costumes but it was frowned upon because it was a place people died and a lot less tarot shops as well it was just a small town back then but then Hocus Pocus came out 💔

Hello! So today at work I just found out about this Salem Halloween stuff, and I’m planning a trip now, leading me to your video. So here’s my question: I’ll be there October 21,22, & 23rd. If it’s not the weekend of Halloween, will people be in costume for their activities? Or is the costume thing more popular on the actual Halloween weekend? -Thanks 💕
@edwintulung66312 жыл бұрын
For me, you planning in the right time. Most activities helds on the weekend in October. Halloween weekend is the peak, it too crowded.

If you look on Reddit, all the locals say that Salem is super crowded on Halloween and police get everyone off the street before midnight. They all said to visit Salem in September because it’s still spooky season but it’s not too crowded to do anything.
