I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the staff of Nishiyama Zoo for their meticulous arrangements at this event. I have followed your efforts with great admiration. Currently, there are two legitimate red pandas in Thailand-one residing at Khao Kheow Open Zoo and the other at Chiang Mai Zoo, which was obtained through an exchange program with Ishihara Zoo. In Thailand, we face significant challenges related to wildlife trafficking, and unfortunately, red pandas are sometimes found as part of this illegal trade. However, it is reassuring to know that the Customs Department promptly sends any rescued red pandas to wildlife conservation centers for proper care and treatment. I sincerely hope that Thailand will soon receive approval from CITES to breed red pandas or facilitate knowledge exchange with Japan to help protect this endangered species. From Thailand 🙏🥕🍎🥰

A long time ago, there was a news report about a Japanese female college student who was arrested for trying to smuggle an otter from Thailand. I was disappointed to learn that there are Japanese people who resort to bad deeds to make money by smuggling endangered animals from other countries. The awareness of red pandas is gradually increasing, and Nishiyama Zoo has become a place where not only Japanese people but also foreigners visit, but I hope that they will quietly watch over the red pandas.
