When you talk about Bottom Lock and say the scale is reversed I believe it is showing you how far from the BOTTOM items are so you don't have to calculate a drop shot length for example. The view with the reference as the bottom. I don't think it is an error in design.

It takes some practice. Is you are only using the sonar, they can technically be to the left, right, or strait down since the sonar beam is cone shaped. Also you have to consider how fast you are moving and how far the screen has scrolled to determine how far behind you they are. It's a lot of trial and error really. Kind of hard to explain

I have the Hook2 Triple Shot 7TS. The depth reading often either freezes on a random depth or blanks out (---) but the sonar is not stopped. To get it working again I have to power off and restart it. I fish a lot in 5 to 6 feet of water trolling at idle speeds and can hit bottom before recognizing depth reading froze again. I am sure it is plugged in correctly, I've checked numerous times. Any Suggestions?

What I got out of this one and all others trying to explain how to use it- don’t buy it, if your boat has it in it like mine rip the cheap thing out and buy a different one. Tracker puts these in their boats. I guess 1. They’re cheap. 2. So they can say there’s fish finder included. EVERY video showing guys modifying their tracker, shows them ripping this thing out and buying another one. Which is exactly what I did.

Bass Pro sold me the Lowrance Hook 2 TS9 in October 2019 when I purchased a 24' Fishing Barge. They never mentioned the Hook Reveal Line. What are the differences between the two products? I just discovered a tutorial on Hook 2 for overlaying the sonar with fish ID activated which seems to do the same as the Reveal series, is this true?

How do you know exactly where the transducer is shooting? I bought the hook2 4x and like it for the most part, but I’m not entirely where to cast to find the fish. How does the movement of the screen go with the transducer pings?

The sonar beam should always be shooting directly beneath the transducer. It will shoot strait down if the transducer is mounted level and properly. You can increase or decrease the ping speed but it will not affect how fast it scrolls on the screen. This unit does not have a scroll speed setting.

@@alexfowler4404 In a sense it does only show the fish directly below the transducer but it does expand and increase in size in correlation to how deep the water is. These units technically have a 60 degree cone angle. So you can calculate the area of coverage by multiplying the depth by 1.155. That will give you the diameter of the cone at its lowest point. However, because sonar is 2D, it collapses that area into a flat image so a fish that shows up on the screen could be right below you or it could be over to the right or left. Will just depend on the depth on how far in either direction it could be.

I thought the video was very helpful. I have the hook2 7 in for my hobie kayak it came with the bullet transducer. Do I have all the options on mine that you showed in this video? Or does the kind of transducer make the option different?

All the menus will be exactly the same. The only difference will be that yours doesn't do side imaging. But as long as yours is not an X series and has the mapping features then the menu options will be identical.

Hello, I have the HOOK2 4x basic I guess. Anyway, I was moving slow and came across a few fish using the fish symbol. I dropped anchor and just sat there messing with finder. I would say about an hour. It was scrolling and showed a line of fish like a parade. I new this couldn’t be right as it was impossible that there were that many fish swimming by. Should I turn off Fish I d symbol and use arch instead. I’m new to it and need some advice. I’m not even sure how to get it back to arch mode. Thanks for any help.

When you sit still and a fish or object is suspended below you, the display will continue to repeat the image over and over which will cause a stream of fish symbols to appear on the screen if your using fish ID. If you turn that off, it will show you a multi colored line across the screen instead as it repeats the fish arch over and over. It will do the same with your jig if its large enough.

@@billknight9775 first thing I would check is if you have the transducer plugged all the way in. There are 3 rings on the plug and you have to make sure all 3 are fully pushed into the back. Also have you checked to see if you habe the latest software version installed on your display?

@@billknight9775 Ya make sure you have the 18.3 update in it and not the 1.0. The current update will give you a message on the screen when you first turn it on if it does not detect the transducer. connected to it.

Once you have set your custom settings, can you save them to memory. If so is it a non volutile,where i do not lose the custm setting when supply is removed.

They should save automatically as long as you power down the unit properly. If you simply remove power from the unit then they will not save, but if you power it off through the a tual power button then they do save.

I have a lowrance Hook 2 7 ts . I don't know if i messed up a setting ....but on chirp, it now has horizontal lines going across the screen top to bottom.....still shows bottom. how can i get back to normal ? thanks

Usually horizontal lines on that screen indicates some kind of interference. Do you have any other fishfinders on the boat right now? If you do, i would recommend maybe increasing your noise rejection and see if that helps clear it up. Also make sure your transducer is still level and hasn't been kicked up some and is still level with the horizon.

@@bobdp3878 Hmmm... did anything else happen on the boat around the time that it started doing that? Did you install or remove anything at all on or from the boat before taking it out on the water that last time before it started happening?

@@bobdp3878 with it only doing it on High Chirp and not on 200 kHz, it really makes it seem like its some kind of frequency interference. I would still try the noise rejection if you havnt yet. If that helps clear it up, then something is causing unwanted noise that the transducer is picking up. Also, if the noise rejection helps, I would maybe recommend rewiring your transducer cable. They can pick up interference like that really easily.

when I put overlay on one screen it puts on all screens . I can turn off overlay ( temp, voltage , distance to way point) but it shuts it off on all . I want overlay on some screen but not all..

Which unit do u have? The x series has a limited option for that but the combo series can be fully customized. Should be able to select edit overlay from the system control menu and then highlight the one u want to delete and them press your enter button and select delete.

Yes that is just sediment and oxygen in the water that causes that. The surface clarity helps remove it. But it's common on most fishfinders

Most likely it's a weak transducer. Unless you are on the west coast using it in salt water. Then the display is probably just reaching its limits cuz its not designed for that. But if your not on the West Coast, i would rwcommend calling Lowrance and try to get them to send another transducer because it should read a lot deeper than that.

Yes you can manually enter In waypoints on that display. Of course it's just a blank screen but yes its possible.

@@heerden2 Press your Enter button when on the GPS screen. Then select New Waypoint. If you want to manually enter in the coordinates, simply arrow up to highlight the coordinates and press Enter again. You can then manually change them to anything you want.

Go to More Options, Split, and then select Flasher. This display can only do a split screen of a flasher. Not a full screen

Only thing I can think of is if the mapping card is corrupted and its causing unforseen complication with the display itself. Have you ever updated the Navionics card on their website? Also does the mapping read ok when the card is inserted?

@@nightanddaymarine8823 it varies i think. i know its off tho cuz my friend had his marcum and he was reading 15 ft in the same ice hole while mine read 17ish. im going out ice fishing tomorrow and ill see how it goes. ill bring a tape measure and do the old fashion throw a weight on and measure bottom that way

I wasn't using a mapping card in this video. Tho I do keep a 32gb card in it when I need to record sonar. But for my mapping I generally use Navionics+.

@@nightanddaymarine8823 I bought a Lowrance hook reveal 50/200 and with it cam a C-Map Max-N ,Max-N+ but the tekxt on the map is very small on depth in the water and i cant get text bigger i talked to the shop abaut this and they sayed that NAVIONICS+ has this option , is this correct ore is he just trying to sell med a card for 2000 kr ?? I found a used NAVIONICS+ 45XG on the net but i cant find anywhere if this card have tis option can you tell me if it works with my Lawrense ?? I had an 15 year old Garmin before and on that one i could do everything så im disapoited that this brand new lawrence giv me that problem i hope that you can help me with som tips and triks

@@hasseegelundnielsen2405 Yes, any Navionics+ card should work on it theoretically. Most Lowrance units have an option called Easy View that you can activate when using a Navionics card. It increases the size of all fonts and icons on your screen when you activate it. The manual says the Hook2 has the feature in it. I would make sure the software version is up to date on the display first. Unfortunately I am not around one of those units right now to double check. I know the Elite TI and HDS series displays have it so it seems likely the Hook2 would as well. Especially if the manual has it listed as a feature.

And yes you can do a split screen of the 2 as long as it's not a X series Hook2. With the exception of the 7x tripleshot. That one is the only X series than can so splits

Their really not as long as you know how to properly use them which is kind of the point of all these videos I'm making. But if u need to find a manual, go to manualslib.com. they have manuals on virtually anything. I just found the one for the Fish ID on there.
