I do like your style, and I listen to this version often. However you are in the right, in a limited amount. This is an uncommon version of nightcore. It's not mandatory, However the main style of nightcore is adding an extra beat, which is what the definition states.

Nightcore is a generally term, like saying "Rock music." There's a lot of different types of music withing the genre. This is indeed nightcore because it was slightly sped up and made a bit pitchier. Perhaps it's not to your taste, but it is still nightcore.
