I started crying the second the singing started.... this song was a favorite of mine to listen to with my Dad when I was in elementary school even though I coun't understand what it's about. My father turned his passive neglect into a weapon when he literally forced me, a severely disabled person on the streets in the bitter cold and dangerous heat for 4 years. He literally left me to die. Between that and the loss of Linkin Park's lead singer to suicide, the softer tone and airy vocals were just heartbreakingly beautiful and evoke both rare moments of joy and also the terribly tramautic and triggering relationship I have with my parents and remind me that I have conquered so much, and am stronger than my father and mother could have ever imagined or appreciated. It's a beautiful moment... thanks... truly...

The life I built, the education I studiously labored for, the professional network I painstakingly constructed, and the home that I fought for... all these things come from a simple truth. I may be broken physically, never to run again and never to be well and healthy again, but I draw my strength from the work I do and the people I serve. I am what my father made me, but not what he intended for me. I work hard, so hard that it is reducing my life expectancy, to help those who, like myself once upon a time, cannot help themselves.
