This song describes a recent break through in my life. And it's odd i stumbled across it today of all days, I got here from the offspring "you're gonna go far kid". lol I've lived un-treated with depression and PTSD for the last 14 years, since I was 15. Haven't been able to do anything with my life because I couldn't interact beyond a basic hello or interactions pertaining to work because I was paranoid to speak to people for 15 years. I decided finally after quitting my job and hitting rock bottom to reach out to for help. I've come to many breakthroughs, conclusions, and thoughts about what was wrong with me over the years and how i could fix it, i knew they meant something but it always felt like something was missing, i couldn't act on them or utilize them the way I thought I should which ultimately lead down a path of sheer hopelessness and caused me to isolate for half of my life. After a few appointments with a counselor and finally opening up to my parents, I kinda found what was missing and that was other people in my life. I found that sharing my conclusions, thoughts, and breakthroughs with them was re-assuring. To have someone say, "Yeah, I agree. I think you're right. We can help you do all that" was a lifetime of despair of my shoulders. I would never let anyone around me at all when depression would peak because it affected my ability to communicate and interact even further, I was afraid they would judge me and I couldn't just say it was because i was depressed because then that marks you in society as an "Emo", but i'm seeing now that people have matured since then and it's okay to say I have depression and PTSD, it's normal that these thing affect me the way they do. I never had any energy to do anything because every minute of my day was spent suppressing anxiety and depression because I thought they were wrong, and other people shouldn't see them. Well, it turns out it works similar to lifting physical weight, if you have someone to share your thoughts and struggles, it's just like having someone to team lift a couch with you. It's just a shame I wasted a quarter of my life refusing to let anyone back in. As stupid, corny, cheesy, childish as all this sounds, this comment marks my return to world. lol To all of you out there struggling with similar problems, I know the anger and I know the fear. The fear of your own thoughts and emotions being over-written by your own mind and losing control when you should be able to maintain it. The anger you feel towards other people may not be anger with them, but anger with yourself and your mind for over-writing what you know you is true and what you need to do with what IT thinks is true and what IT thinks you need to do. But help is out there, whether you need someone to guide you or simply re-assure you that you are on the right path.
