Fun fact! Senbonzakura's name Originates from the two words. Sakura and bonzai. Bonzai is a commonly known Japanese tree breed. And a Sakura is Japanese for cherry blossom. So if we were to translate this name: senbonzakura we'd get "cherry blossom bonzai" In English 💚

You got half of it correct! The bon in bonsai is 盆, where as the bon in senbonzakura is 本. The first bon means "pot", the latter bon is a unit word for long objects (such as trees). They're distinctly different characters. Senbonzakura 千本桜 = sen + bon + zakura = thousand + (unit for long objects, in this case implying tree) + sakura. So it's actually "one thousand sakura trees."
