This song hits really hard. I was called weird my entire life because Im better at interacting with books then people. Through elementary school I was told that I should take being called weird as a compliment, and so I didn't realize people didn't mean it like that. In middle school I started realizing that they weren't being nice about it, and I drew into myself. I became a really socially awkward teenager, and I couldn't talk to anybody I didn't already know. But in 8th grade through my best friend I met my friends. We all are kind of mismatched, and none of us really make sense, but we are there for each other, and thats what I needed. Im still absolutely awful with people, but now I have people behind me

Actually, I thought I'd never been that one weird kid in the class, but in writing this comment, I realized some ever called me that. My former classmates. I used to be that one quiet kid who followed the class idols around, trying to "blend" with others, trying to be more of an extrovert. Some call me overly sensitive, I'd cry for losing. And for many other trivial things. I didn't know everyone thought me of such until one of my classmates accidentally slipped it. In front of others. Many things changed, and as the guilt was haunting me, I tried to change myself. To be liked by everyone, to befriend, to be accepted by others. But the more I tried, everything turned even worse, so I shut myself up. I didn't talk much, and I'd spend my time drawing or writing even though I'm not that good at the two. My teachers told me I was being too quiet, that I was too self-centered. About how I should befriend others. I tried it. I told myself it was all a misunderstanding, but all I got was silence, cold gazes, Schadenfreude, and guilt. So I shut myself once again. Days before graduation, each one in our class was given a paper on which we'd write our impression, and mine had the least writings on it. I expected it, but it kinda hurt. Once, I overheard one of my friends saying that I was being, well, too immersed in my own world. I really wanted to shout in front of their face at the time, "WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO THEN? WHO ARE YOU WANTING ME TO BE?"
