Hi , Let m assure you of something , firstl I am old and yes I do listen to nightcore, tastes in music doesn’t change you just add more likes to your music tastes as trends change over the years (I also like classical , Heavy Rock , Punk ), but what I wanted to say is that your memories don’t fade away , they are still there if you wish to remember them , what really happens is that people change as they get older and most want to forget thier ‘Real Past’ and instead invent thier own , a past which fits in with the people that that now associate with . Let me give you an example of what I mean .My brother and I had mostly shared memories up until we were in our early twenties , we both chose different paths in life , he was career orientated and focused on mixing with people with money , to achieve his goal of having more money than he could spend , he and his wife never had kids . I on the other hand realised early on that life wasn’t just about making money . I instead would work for say 6 months then go travelling to different countries and work odd jobs till I was skint then come back home and work another 6 months and do the same again . Doing this I got to meet and befriend hundreds and hundreds of different people around the world . I settled down and had two (now grown up kids), and I have really enjoyed every stage of my life (if I died tomorrow I would have no regrets and I would die happy) . My brother and I are now close again after many , many years apart . When we sit together and drink a bottle of whiskey , have cigars and reminisce about our lives somethings plainly stick out . He doesn’t recall our early years in the same way I do , he says he doesn’t remember he way we were bullied or the clothes we wore with holes in , more does he recall all the stealing we use to do , nor does he recall the beatings we got off our father (for doing the stealing) . He also doesn’t want to believe me when I recall how devastating he was at the loss of his first marriage and how I was there for him . His recollection was of this (obviously false) perfect life as he was growing up and of a marriage that HE ended NOT the other way round (the truth) . I feel sorry for my brother cos all he really says , time after time is how he made so much money in his life , but that’s about all he says , where apon I will talk for hours and hours about my many , many ventures abroad (my claim to fame is that I have survived an aeroplane crash, a helicopter crash , and I also survived a ship sinking), my point being that I love and cherish my past and can recount my school bully(s) my first love and then throughout my life all the friends I made around the world . So let this be a life lesson , I may not be rich money wise but I’m definitely not poor either , I provided everything my wife and kids wanted in their lives whilst also Living A Great Life , Do not get sucked into the lie that money makes you happy , money makes things easier , that’s it . Instead find a balance between earning money and enjoying your free time . My wife says it the best , “You only get one chance at life so make it count , would you rather die with millions in your bank account and wishing you’d things done differently or would you prefer to have only thousands in your account when you die but alongside that you also have a lifetime of great memories “. You take care , And enjoy your life , make those great memories cos they do stick with you . . R .
